A breakthrough in R/C car racing with Li-Po Technology! The 5 Amp regulator was designed specifically targeting the 1/10 & 1/8 class for both on-road and off-road. Advancement in servo technology has brought more powerful and reliable servos into the race arena but with one drawback – ‘power consumption’. These servos draw more current than their predecessors and therefore need higher capacity batteries. That is why manufacturers are pushing for higher capacity receiver batteries for racing.
The VXR advantage:
This is where VXR Racing steps in pushing the envelope further in battery technology to achieve maximum racing performance. Below is the advantage of running this regulator with any one of our VXR Racing Li-Po pack:
1) You will have consistency in steering torque and speed throughout the race. Braking and throttle servo performance will stay consistent all the way. Why this happens is because the regulator maintains a constant voltage (6.7) at any level of current draw, up to 5amp. With NiMh, as soon as there is current draw (servo movement) the supplied voltage dips and that causes a change in speed and the holding power of your servos, affecting your response to steering input. Consistency wins races!
2) Improved runtime
3) Reduced overall weight of your race car.
Features:
1) Li-Po low voltage detection - red LED will light up when detecting Li-Po battery voltage is 6.2v or lower. This is to prompt the user to recharge the Li-Po battery. The system will continue to function until the voltage drops below your electronics’ minimum operating voltage.
2) Functional LED - a green LED will light up when it is powered up to show the unit is functioning.
3) Clear heat shrink protection - It allows the LED to be viewed clearly.
4) Single sided SMT - while SMT technology ensures high quality and consistency, the single sided assembly allows the bottom of the regulator to be flat for easy mounting with double sided tape.
5) No switch equals less problems. Switches are frequently a reliability issue. In racing, reliability is more important than convenience, therefore the lack of a switch in this product.

Congratulations to Team Snake/VXR!
21st Oct 2005 - Team Snake/VXR consisted of Suah KH, Steven Tye, Andy Dass and Hafiz Junior running a Serpent 710 with an OS TR.12 were declared the champions in this grueling 3 hour race and were the only team to achieve 600 plus laps.
Powering the electronics on their car, the team used VXR Li-Po1050mAh pack and a VXR prototype switching 5amp regulator. This combination with a total weight of 60grams gave a whopping 1 hour 45 minutes runtime on a single charge. Two of these packs were mounted on the chassis and all it took to change the pack was a mere 5 seconds. A big advantage as opposed to pulling out the used pack and making a replacement.
This race shows that the 5amp regulator is bomb proof. What’s a 45min final when it can run a 3 hour enduro!
Another prototype that was used is the VXR 6mm Tuned Pipe – The ‘X1’. Consistent performance throughout the race and excellent power band for an OS 5 port engine was the comment by the team. The X1 pipe will be launched in November ’05.
