Default Engine Choice for 1:8 Buggy

Hi guys,

Need some suggestions/experience/thoughts about an engine not costing more than RM800for my OCM DT-19. Here are what I have in mind;

GS R25MT (most preferred at the moment)
LRP Z21R Spec2
LRP Z28R Spec3
Sirio Engine SIR-S21-S
STS?
etc. etc. etc

I want something that lasts long, and will keep on going lets say 5 tanks, and on and on and on without very little compromise on the performance. And continue this the next day What about .28? Please feel free to make any comments. Nonsence comments are nice to hear once in a while too

Choose only .21 on buggy. If not, you cant enter race. Buggy limited till .21 unless you want to run with .18

Ok, so what's the advantage of a 5 port over a 3 port model? What about the effect of Low end and top end power? Thanks!

We have tested Axe Rossi engine on our OCMs and they rock and it is also within your budget. Checkout the OCM thread for details

I find that .28 heatsinks are bigger, can I fit a .21 heatsink instead?

I thought of having two engines, a proper .21 for racing and any engine size for endless bashing. If I bought a .25 or .28 probably it'll run cool due to less load on a 1:8 buggy.

Thanks!!!

your .28 will run cooler due to the lesser effort it needs to produce but at the expense of the buggy?

How much cooler will the .28 be as compared to the .21 ? 10'c ? The diff in temp is insignificant lee, tuning is the key to a healthy engine.

buggy doc? I am all theoratical laa. I have never had a .28 however I ran a .25 GS engine on a truggy years back, power wise it has better torque but lacking high speed (maybe tuning out) and fuel consumption of course will be more than a .21 .Wear? when I sold the truggy it was still kicking the cats ass around my neighbourhood I run all my engine richer than optimum all the time. Head shim stock + .1

AXE Rossi is an alternative to RB. I personally run an RB WS7 III but I am bashing with the AXE (bang for buck!) and found the AXE to be surprisingly very powerful! Talk is cheap, I dont want to brag about anything here. Come to the RCAC buggy race next week and judge for yourself the performance of AXE Rossi
