Nothing inherently political about talking about the police or a video where a celebrity gets pulled. But bet you somebody reports it or marcos deletes the thread. Then Elon Musk's name gets dropped. Don't know how safe it is to speak his name now since he aligns with Trump and has made some waves politically. Mentioning him in EV discussions wasn't popular in the past, so bet his name is on Marcos radar now. We see.

At first, i was going to share this but if everyone agrees then that makes a conversation boring it looks like a circle jerk so i figure the ice t thing would have been better for conversation. As for the Elon i didn't even consider it as something that could be taken political if anything i figure it be something almost all of us could agree on that the housing market sucks donkey balls right now

Oh yeah agree absolutely. I'm just speculating what marcos might do. I don't want to rent forever, but I don't see myself buying a home anytime soon in the foreseeable future. Unless the landlord makes a sweet deal with me to buy the condo I'm currently renting. Had a buddy get lucky like that where he's now buying the property he was renting at. The problem with discussing the housing market is that it leads to discussing the economy which borders on politics and the latter part could very quickly get our thread deleted. Sharing the Ice-T video was good, but I think most everyone else will be too bitch to share their opinion on it because it could tip into government and politics and bye bye thread. But let him delete as many threads as he wants. Since my discussion with the admin team, he or no mod can prevent us from starting and having an off topic discussion in the off topic forum as he tried to do.

The housing market is in such shit shape currently that taking that house I posted about in Arizona I would have had to put down at least 120k for any bank to even consider giving me a loan for it.

you want a fucked up housing market come to So Cal . housing costs are through the fucking roof ($780,000+ for a 3bed, 2bath, out here in average suburbia), property taxes are through the fucking roof ($10,000+ a year). insurance rates are through the fucking roof, and its actually getting difficult to get home owners insurance because of where the house is. and im not talking up in the mountains in the burn zones, its happening down here in the suburbs. the crime/vandalism rates are that bad. iv heard stories about home owners insurance going up because the nextdoor neighbor drives an EV. they're considered higher fire risks, if the neighbors EV goes up on the charger in the driveway its only 12 feet from your house so you will probably end up with damage to you're property so you pay for it.

and its a pain in the ass to build anything, red tape for years, permits out the ass. permits expire before you can even start building etc. building codes are over the fucking top. and all the government will let you build is "high density" and "low income" housing with no garages and no parking.
Orange County sued the state over new housing mandates and lost (i think its still ongoing) because something like 98% of the county is developed. mainly with suburbs and shopping centers. the states wants them to rip out the suburbs and build low income and high density housing. yet San Bernardino county (50 miles away) is like 80% undeveloped and the state won't let them build anything on it.

Same where I live. They're trying to cram apartments, condos and townhomes in every nook and cranny. And a long with that, storage units. So all the new transplants have a place to put all their excess junk that won't fit in an apartment.

so every county is trying to cram condos and town houses anywhere they'll fit not taking parking into consideration. and the units cost so much to build and demand for space is so fucking high the prices are astronomical for what you get. a 3 story, 3 bed, 2 bath, "town house" with a 2 car garage and no yard is still over $700,000.

i don't remember if it was California or not but I know insurance companies there are using drones to deny any claims related to the roof of a house.

My city is also trying to implement more walkable infrastructure to allow and encourage more biking and walking. Parking is tight but adequate for a 2 car family. But if your unit is occupied by all adults who drive, then thats 3 to 4 cars pet unit and parking can be a problem then.
