Any reason for putting it on the tail light? seems like more trouble than just putting it on the trunk

its easy, kind of stealthy, and doesn't require you to drill through, usually multiple layers of sheet metal. can't remember if there's rules about switch mounting location... but that may play a role. the purpose is to have an external switch track crew can use to shut off power to the vehicle incase of a crash.

lots of people have rigged up "exploding packages" for those assholes. i like the ones that use 12gauge shotgun blanks. people freak out thinking they're being shot at. also remember a glitter bomb one that went off when opened. and even a dog shit cannon that shot dog shit when opened there are videos for days on the subject.

No, I mean externally mounted on the trunk or under it, it just seems easier than drilling thru the tail light now if there is some rule about it being in a specific location I can see why maybe the taillight would be the go-to

the rule says something like the switch has to be mounted on the rearmost part of the car and be easily accessible from outside the car. iv heard from VW guys that you can't mount it on "removeable" panels (rear fenders on a VW, or decklids/trunk lids, etc. which is weird cause iv seen them mounted on bumpers of V8 cars ). 67 Impalas don't have a tail panel, the body between the tail lights above the bumper is the trunk lid. so he ether had to mount it through the tail light like he did, above the tail light, or through the bumper if its legal.

This is where I have seen them, but interesting i know the car had has to have a kill switch I just never knew they stipulate the location other than it be accessible externally. It still a cool car but the tube sticking out the tail light really got me

different sanctioning bodies may have different rules about it. im only familiar with NHRA rules. typically they get mounted like the first pic. but that's not possible on the 67 impala cause of the trunk lid design. i have noticed the push off switch's being run through the tail light is becoming trendy. idk why, lots of fox body cars doing it for some reason.
