Sorting Out the Digital Chaos

I finally decided to tackle my "Unsorted" folder last night, and I honestly wanted to cry once I realized there were over three thousand photos from my old camera all named with random strings of letters and numbers like DSC0987. It is so incredibly draining to look for a specific memory from a vacation and realize that everything is just a jumbled mess where "Beach Day" is hidden between a receipt scan and a blurry photo of a cat. I spent nearly two hours trying to rename them manually before I realized that I would be eighty years old by the time I finished, and I really need a way to just group them by date or category without losing my mind in the process.

The struggle with messy file names is totally real, and I went through the exact same nightmare when I was trying to organize a massive library of sound effects for a project I was working on last summer. I used to think I could just stay organized from the start, but as soon as you get busy, everything just gets dumped into one big folder and you tell yourself you will fix it later, which never actually happens until you are forced to. There is a certain kind of peace that comes with finally putting everything in its right place, but it also makes you wonder how long it will stay that way before the entropy starts to creep back in.
