Owning your own tech stack

Been thinking a lot lately… I’m still on a big off-the-shelf SSP, paying them a revshare slice every month, and every time I want something non-standard (like my own price-floor logic or direct deal with some weird demand partner) I have to beg on my knees and wait months. Last week they straight up told me “this feature is not on our public roadmap, maybe 2026”. Meanwhile my traffic is growing and I feel like I’m just renting someone else’s ceiling. Cleared out my bookmarks yesterday and realized I still had logins for four different “enterprise” platforms I used between 2020-2023.
