Hey folks, quick question from a local in the Upper Valley — does anyone here live in VT or NH and has actually tried a home-care agency like TLC HomeCare? My mom’s 78, just finished rehab after a hip issue, and we’re weighing a few hours a day for bathing, meals, and rides to appointments. Companionship matters to her even more than chores. If you’ve used them, how was scheduling, backup coverage, and nurse oversight? Did anyone try short overnight support or respite weeks?

For what it’s worth, I went through this with my grandmother last spring in Burlington. We did an in-home assessment, then a nurse case manager set a simple plan: morning help with hygiene, light housekeeping, meal prep, med reminders, and a weekly ride to PT. The schedule was flexible, and when our main caregiver took time off, the agency sent a solid backup without drama. I actually first found TLC while mapping out a travel nursing stint in New England — their info made it easier to compare what home support looks like across VT/NH. Not a sales pitch, just sharing that the intake and communication were straightforward for us.

Hopping in as a passerby: I don’t have direct experience with that agency, but I’ll say having a simple checklist for the house helped my dad — clear walkways, grab bars near the shower, a sturdy chair for putting on shoes.
