Imbalanced propellers on a Yak aircraft

Hey guys, have any of you ever dealt with problems of propellers on a Yak being imbalanced? I recently noticed some unusual vibrations during flight, and after checking everything else, I’m pretty sure it’s the propeller that’s causing the issue. I’ve heard that even a slight imbalance can cause significant vibrations, which could potentially lead to more serious problems down the line. I’m not entirely sure what the best course of action is. Have any of you experienced this before, and if so, how did you resolve it? Is it a DIY fix, or should I be looking to get professional help? Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you’ve had this problem, did you notice any other symptoms besides the vibrations?

Like User2 mentioned, I ended up getting the prop dynamically balanced, and the difference was night and day. It’s a relatively small investment compared to the potential damage. If you’ve never done it before, I would strongly suggest you get it done professionally. Also, make sure to inspect the propeller for any nicks or damage, as those can also throw it off balance. After getting mine balanced, I haven’t had any issues since.

Yeah, I’ve had that issue with my Yak before. It’s definitely something you don’t want to ignore. In my case, the propeller was slightly out of balance, and it caused a noticeable vibration in the airframe, especially at higher RPMs. Over time, those vibrations, caused by Propeller imbalance , can do more than just make the flight uncomfortable—they can actually lead to structural fatigue, which is the last thing you want. What I ended up doing was removing the propeller and sending it to a specialized shop that does dynamic balancing. They were able to balance it precisely, which made a world of difference.
