He should do that, but probably will not. Start promotions NOW so people can get prepared and make that the final onroad race ever for hotshot. That would probably bring everyone out that would want to run onroad for 1 last time.

You are correct but those numbers(being 20-30 Friday/Saturday) are already happening since the dirt was installed and he has two tracks... I would much rather run on a huge off road or huge on road track but is making one or the other the only track going to double those numbers to 60 on a Friday or Saturday with 5 other tracks bidding for racers to come that offer nitro & electric. I'm sure people like Bracken that run nitro would still rather be at dalton or loganville with his nitro buggy than indoors with his 1/10 electric buggy once it warms up. I just don't see turnouts getting that much larger for Friday/Saturday events. Maybe big events we could see the numbers triple but you still have to have the right parts always in stock to support that many people running, the right advertising to get people there and so on and so on...

I'll be there next Wednesday with my 1/10 buggy for off-road and my 1/12 for on-road if anyone wants to come race... I think three makes a class

One great thing I have noticed since HS went v2 was the amount of NEW faces!!

That is what our scene needs, more new people, and offroad seems to drawing them in.

In the business world you either stick to your guns and sink with your ship or you learn to adapt and survive.

The off-road community has proven themselves by showing up, period...

We have needed this for A LONG TIME, Never have us off-road guys been so close to having a full time, full size, INDOOR off-road track, in the METRO ATL AREA!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we should keep both tracks opened and alternate every other week, Wed to Sat. this would give time for on-road cleanup and keep both income streams, on-road clean up can be lessened by implementing a tarp frame to cover the on-road track.

I feel when it starts to get hot the off-road racers will race closest to their home unless it rains. That's why off-road is doing so well now at Hotshot, because of weather.

The hobbyshop needs inventory that is not model specific.Tires, bodies paint, wire motors servos speed controllers and as loyal club racers we should only buy those items from Hotshot.

Racing to generate money to support a track puts a heavy burden on the racers and takes away from the fun and learning process needed to get faster. As a club track we should be doing more to stay together than looking for a few sponsored races that still won't keep the doors opened at Hotshot.

Instead of taking sides why don't we try some off-road on-road guys? and off-road guys try some on-road this way we can keep what we have and make it better.

Maybe a snack stand could help generate extra money I'm thinking of a Fryer and electric gill on a table every little bit helps.

I was suggesting this in another thread. If there are acceptable tires we could run on our 2wd buggies that won't hurt the track, I would like to run the buggies on road. Wouldn't cost anything but the wheels and tires and could work on some different skills.

I'll admit that ideal for me is to have a big enough indoor dirt track to run ebuggy, but whatever Brad decides i'll support and keep coming out to HS as much as I can. However when given the choice of racing ebuggy or not racing ebuggy i'm going to choose the former.

When talking about outdoor competition I know my inherit lazyness will factor in all the extra equipment and setup time required with outdoor (ezup, tables, chair, air compressor, etc.) vs. making one trip from the car to the HS pits and being ready to go in 5 mins. I'm pretty sure at that point HS would become my home track and would only venture out to Loganville, Dalton, HCRCR on special events.

Something else I was thinking about today to help raise funds; offer a membership program more like a golf course. So you pay $300 - $500 yearly then get all your club racing and practice for free. Or take what one would expect to spend racing twice a week, add it up for a year and take off like 50%. If there is a bigger (more expensive entry fee) event, then just deduct the normal club rate for members.

Multi classes would be a tricky, maybe offer multi class memberships, or do add-ons on race days when you race a second class, etc.

Could be a quick way to raise $5k - $10k depending on how the numbers work out, or break it down into a monthly fee to have some recurring revenue on the books which is always nice if you need a loan or other investors.

Since there is concern that off road will go back outside when it warms up why not wait and see what happens before a decision is made. if the racers stay indoors then consider expanding the track. if they do go outside then the on road track is still there to offer another racing option. Warm weather is just a couple of months away.

The only concern that offroad will go out door all summer are the onroad guys!

Onroad had its chance, it is the winter season, I was told in late summer the numbers were low b/c it was not in season yet.

Onroad season has come and there is literally no change in attendance!

The offroad track is over due for a layout change and this would be a great time to start working on a revision!

At what point do we all look at this as we are all racers it's not about off road guys and on road guys we are racers that invest a lot in the class we like or love.

Now I do understand what Shon and a few others are looking at. But before we start looking at who had their chance, lets look at the big picture. The original loss in on road racers came from bad public relations moves. Some people returned when things changed and we had to big turn outs for the Top Gun Challenge and the G.O.R.C..... The second came from rushing to put the off road track in without taking the necessary precautions needed to keep dirt off the on road surface. If you really look at it, If on road racing was truly dead, then hotshot killed It.

I agree with you Will that the onroad scene could have done it better, but you cannot blame Brad alone.

Onroad folks had 3 years to work together with Brad to make a Onroad scene.

If you notice how fast the off-road scene got it together at hotshots, we are very proactive group, and we finished the track a week ahead of schedule!

When I was in Cali I asked many folk about onroad, they all said the same thing, its dying! Hotshots did not kill onroad, the GA onroad community or lack of is what is killing it

Brad I s doing what he can to make everyone happy as best he can. Remember he was struggling with the off road because of track conditions. ( carpet, wooden jumps and other strange obstacles.) Now people come because of the red V2. Now we have red clay on a carpet surface. That stuff is bad on carpet track and can make it hard to drive a on road car on with open diff and direct drive. This is why numbers have declined.

ITS NOT ABOUT ON ROAD HAVING ITS TURN AND OFF ROAD HAS PROVEN ANYTHING.

Big off road, Big on road or both tracks I'll be there. I still think Getting rid of the on road track is a bad Idea to me but it's not my place.
