Default Atlanta R/C Supercross

Hi!
ATL superX is a new offroad track in Lilburn, in the Atlanta suburbs.
We just had our first race this Sat and it came out great!
We race EVERY Saturday---gates open at 7am quals at 11am..finish by dark
EVERY Sunday (1/2 day, electric, gate open at 1pm, races at 2 pm-7pm)

We are open for practice M-F 11am-8pm
We have J-lap on and talking during practice times.
We have paid turn marshals during practice. from noon til 6 pm
We do not yet have power.
We are not stingy on keeping the track moist for the optimal traction during practice.
Drivers stand/pit area in shade all day
Best pit lane. anywhere. No blind entry or exit.
The cost is $10 for as long as you want practice ($5 after 5pm) Race
fees are $20 with many father/son and multi-class discounts.
We have a cadilac of a Port-o-pots! Nicer than my house! lol

I think he races 4wd SCT every Saturday
There will be an on-site hobby shop there soon, with fuel and common parts.

Practiced on the track today it was awesome! I'm thinking I would enjoy racing there. But I fear I'm about to stir the pot and get a debate going so let's get it over with now before Saturday.
Thinking about my equipment and all the my fellow competitors equipment I think we should only run 6 min qualifers and 8 min a mains for the sct & sct 4x4 classes.
Please post your take on these proposed run times. This is not meant to creat an agruement but merely a venue where we can discuss and work out an agreement strictly between the competitors of the respective classes. Plus express your opinions on accepting 17.5 bl motors to run in the stock class.

That sounds about right for SCT. I would even go 10 min A mains if wanted !

SCT and Nitro classes on both days or what ?

I was there for a little bit today watching rctouringracar drive his vehicle.

I would have to agree with him on having the SCT class run 6 min quals and 8 min mains. He ran for 10 mins on a 17.5 motor and came off at 196. That type of heat will kill a motor after a few runs.

If he ran that hot in 10 minutes, he was overgeared. That is not a valid reason to shorten the races. You can be overgeared no matter what the length of the race. That is just a part of getting the right setup. After the races Saturday at Turtle Trax, I ran back to back packs of hard racing for 25 minutes and only ran 135 degrees.

4WD may have a time issue with the battery capacity, but the 2WDs can easily run 10 minutes or more with no problem.

BBRoadRacer you have a valid point. I could re gear my rig to run for how ever long the race is. My point is that I prefer a more regulated format. Example being I race at turtle trax they run on that time format. I would like to be able to go to different tracks be generally set up be be able to make time and get maxium performance from my vehicles. Though some of us may not be ROAR members I think we can all appreciate the time effort taken to figure the optium time for this rigs to run most effienctly. It is my personal opinion that if you were to gear a 17.5 to run 10min on this track it will only be as fast a 550 12t traxxas after seven minutes on a 2s lipo... Slow...

I agree with your ROAR comments, but Turtle Trax is the only ROAR offroad track around here. During our winter rule discussions, the biggest concern from alot of people was that the RTR stuff would still be able to compete. Your speed opinion will make them happy. Plus, I like running longer, and so do alot of others.

Nationally all offroad tracks are going with roar rules for SCT whether or not they are roar affilates

Look at the short course nationals is 6 min qual and mains
Roar is all 6 min quals

IF tracks here in ga stay with GCS rules SCT will die out cause of motors and not being able to run at tracks in other places

Not a LRP. They can run consistently around 200 without any problems at all. Some have even got them as high as 230 with no side effects. In fact, if you're not getting an LRP over 160 or so you're not gettting the most out of the motor.

But that's a LRP. Run a DUO at those temps and you'll be buying new rotors on a pretty consistent basis.
