Actually CRC Ozite is made in Canada near Montreal. However, There are others made in Dalton that will work, but the bite will be much different than at a major event.

The blue carpet that Tommy has is actually pretty good stuff. We really like it.

Kumpol made a couple of research trips to Dalton, and he couldn't really find a viable alternative to CRC.
CRC FastTrak carpet generates traction very quickly and has good longevity. Best of all, it resists getting "stringy".

This new carpet is absolutely the best for model car racing. We have developed model car racing carpet since 1989 and this is our best release yet. The new Fasttrak features an advanced fiber bonding process to ensure fiber locking with little or no fuzz. Also, the backing has been modified to better suit both the facility that glues the carpet down, AND the facility that picks up and tears down each week.

CRC Fasttrak is used at the following large events;

*** The U.S. Indoor Champioship in Cleveland, OH ***

*** The Snowbird Nationals in Orlando, Florida (oval and road course) ***

*** The International Indoor Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada ***

*** Past IFMAR World Championships ***

Soon to be used at the following races;

*** 2008 LRP Carpet Masters ***

*** 2008 International Speed Weekend - ISW ***

CRC Fasttrak features a "no static" fiber treatment for safe speed control use. The traction compound resistant glue keeps fibers from tearing out prematurely due to the glue being weakened by tire additives. The carpet is gunmetal grey in color. It is far better for model car racing than carpets available from major home improvements stores. Fasttrak's omni-directional fibers cause no pull or drift of the model cars. Fasttrak requires no special care. An occasional vacuum and possible a yearly or bi-yearly steam cleaning is needed ONLY if your facility gets dusty during the summer months.

Maybe a call to ED Weaver at Dalton RC might be a good idea. His family is in the carpet business there and may have a line on that same carpet CRC sells.

Am I wrong in assuming that they used the same (or similar) Blue carpet we used at primetime at the LRP Masters?

BTW, any estimates on how wide the track will be? 80x45?

80'x45' would be massive.

They are definitely not the same...the stuff from the LRP Masters gets horrible reviews. Drivers would have carpet hairs wound around their CVD's 100 times after a run!

The track will be 80x30.

As far as I can see the only thing established is the length at about 80' and the rest is speculation...
I want to know if it is air conditioned

Ah... well that sucks... At least I was only 15 feet off on the track size...

That decision is still up in the air. Both scenarios have their ups and downs. Every other weekend could actually help make each race day more enjoyable since the turnouts would not be thinned out, and this could be good for the long run.
I might also talk to some of my oval friends in SC about putting on a couple of oval races to bring in some revenue.

What about practice times? I work 10 minutes away. Lunch time practice going to be possible?

Yes, but probably not every day of the week.

One or 2 lunchtimes a week would be awsome. One more question - are you planning on having the vintage class?
