Default 9116 - 1/12 Scale 2WD 2.4G 4 Channel RC Car Truck Toy RC Racing Truggy Toy - RED

DHL made a delivery attempt yesterday for the vehicle I am to do an unboxing video for, but they want me to pay the duty and taxes.

http://www.gearbest.com/rc-cars/pp_203036.html

This added expense is almost 60% the value of the vehicle itself. Not great.

Does this mean you weren't home to accept or did you refuse the shipment ? I'll have to look but I remember reading something about taxes/duties when I placedmy order. I think this may be a Canada thing since you guys pay duty on items made oversees.

I had to pay the fees online and leave the delivery notice on my mailbox with the authorization code, name and signature. What a PITA and this happens when sellers use couriers to send larger items into Canada.

The Canadian Border Security and Canada Customs people check packages and apply duty and taxes whenever possible. Typical government money grab.

I expect DHL will leave the package on my door step some time later today. I can then do the un-boxing video and post that later.

Update August 26, 2015

I was reimbursed today by GearBest for the DHL fees I paid to receive the 9116 vehicles. This concludes my collaboration with this company
