I'm running a SP V3 7.5. Plenty of punch, runs cool and half the cost of other motors.

Lot of people are running hobby wing at the track today. You will have no problem getting support and for the $$ you can't beat that. The only downside is a little bit older model and the new 3.1 is the most update one so is $$ wise.

Nice ESC but you need to consider Florida heat in the summer. Personally I prefer a bit of overkill so the unit doesn't ever get overloaded. I would suggest the 120 over this but the 90 is solid.

I would also suggest that you look into the Speed Passions Reventon series. I have the R version and it's fantastic but the Pro is even better. I'd say on par with the best available. Plus their cases are actual aluminum as opposed to plastic which is something I really like.

If this is your first race, i would recommend a 17.5 motor and running stock. Mod is for more advanced drivers. Just want to see you get the most out of the racing experience. We all started there!

So I went ahead a bough a SP Reventon Pro + Competition V3.0 MMM 17.5R Motor for the 2wd buggy Just need some track time

Also, I have JC Double Dees Green and Proline Hole Shots for the rear and Proline Wide for the front. Are these tires ok to start?

DD, HS are good for the rear. For the front I use Rib type but I am running mid-motor so it may be different.
