2010-2011 FSEARA Onroad Series 1st race 9/19
#47
I had a call from a racer today who was concerned with the current class offerings, specifically the 17.5 expert and sportsman. I felt it might be a good idea to offer my thoughts....My vision at the last race when we sat down and discussed these issues was to consolidate the 17.5 class and give it some depth, and validity. We have more than a handful of national caliber racers....making the "A" will be an accomplishment, for that matter, making the "B" will be tough, but whatever main......you'll be with racers of similar ability and qualifying time.... simple...old school. I see the Sportsman class as a class for new racers and/or racers who are consistently way off the race pace, so much so that it might not be enjoyable for them or others trying to qualify for expert 17.5. The guys you kill on the straight as they swerve to give you room and inadvertently get punted and ruin both racer's qualifying times......we've all been there. If someone is dominating a class, it might be time to move up.....
The series is about earning points and being ranked at the end of the season against other FL racers...whatever main you're in. The question is......How do we set criteria for classes without intentionally trying to exclude anyone in particular who might be over or underqualified for a class. I have no business in mod......As much as Dave Bowser has no business in sportsman. Racing with better racers makes me better, faster, and also makes me want to improve.
Another issue was that I waited till a week before the race to clarify......I never thought I needed to till it came to my attention that some experienced racers were planning on running sportsman 17.5, which would kill it for any developing racers. The non-timing issue was to allow older ESC's and try to slow it down a little, and maybe let these folks save a few bucks.
I may not always make decisions that everyone will be pleased with, but I will try to make informed, reasonable decisions to help build the series. I really don't want to piss people off...not on my list today, or ever. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday at the banquet, and again Sunday on the track, whatever main I'm in.

Can't wait for this weekend!
Can someone post up the physical address of the track? The FSEARA site just says that is 1.5 miles south of I-4.
And will the track be open for practice on Saturday afternoon after the club race is over, for those of us that can't make it in the morning for the club race? If so, what will the time frame be? Thanks!

Not for that class but I know 2 for WGT( both with new cars)! Alsohave plenty of Boylans sodas. Place your order early if you want to take a case home (By Friday am).
I'll also have Rockys Stuff. Anyone wanting a good deal on a Corally RDX and RDXPHI RTR I'll have one of each. Also a Associated L4 oval car and Corally F1. Also a Fantom Dyno with the stuff to do brushless motors (so I've been told).
