Default FSEARA 2008 Race #4 Strickland R/C Park hosted by MB Racing April 19-20

This race is coming up soon. Not to much talk about it, so everyone must be working on their cars and getting ready.

I received word from Izzy that the track will not be open for practice on Friday. They will have the gates open from 5pm to 7pm for trailer parking on friday, but there is no overnight staying.

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

No practice time on Friday? That makes it hard on us driving 4 hours to justify the trip. I may have to skip this one................

May I ask why there will be no practice allowed on Friday?

If I recall, we never had a Fri. practice at Strickland till last year. I was under the impression that it was the club's decision, not FSEARA's. The park is open........Who actually makes the call if the track is open for practice? There are those of us that really need any practice we can get!

I also have room reservations for Friday Night, but I would still use them even without practice. I just can't get up and drive 4 hours in the morning to arrive and get practice time in Saturday morning.

Check out this cost analysis for race:

$80 Gas
$200 Hotel
$77 Entry and tires

3 qualifers and main= 24 minutes race time

That works out to almost $15 per minute of track time. Ouch!

Hotels (10 of them ) range from 60.00 a night to 120.00 per night are all listed on the fseara.org site. This is an excellent facility and MB Racing knows how to run a great race. We are all planning on making this one, as it will be Toni's last race with the series for while. She leaves to start basic training with the Navy on May 6th 2008. Hope to see all of you there. We are also going over on Friday night after work so we can practice early on Sat. morning.

Thanks Tim for breaking down the race per minutes cost. Now I know I have to work alot of overtime in the next two weeks to pay for this hobby.

Going to the race, enjoying the time with friends and competitors, spending hours practicing, wrenching and just being at the track.....

Still worth it for me....

I agree on all the positives of racing, but who makes the call on Fiday practice? The host organization? If no Friday practice, what is the reasoning? Last year the track was open Friday, just curious why the change back.

The host track determines the availability of Friday practice.

The guys in the south are more then welcome to shake their cars out at our track on Friday.. then drive up on Friday night and sleep in Daytona....
