Tc4, Tc7 or X-ray t4
Hey, would just like some adivice on an electric touring car 1/10. I like and have a good run with Team Accosiated and looking at the Tc7, Tc4 and I also like the X-ray T4 2017. I like the X-ray but wondering what would be the best out of them three?? I plan to use it for just taking out and maybe racing down the track. My main question is for all three can you put lipo batteries in all of them with other connectors other than bullet ones?my main concern is for a secure compartment for lipo and just a quality.

IMO the best of these is the Xray, hands down. Of course the Associateds can be run as well - although the TC4 is of limited use, depending on what class you want to run. However, modern touring cars usually don't have "secure compartments" for lipos. Mostly they are just strapped in, by sticky or velcro tape (it's important to not fix them too rigidly, otherwise they would affect chassis flex). And these tape mountings might get in the way, if using non-bullet connector type batteries. Any special reason why you don't want bullet connector on your lipos?

Thanks for the info that does make sense. I looked at the set up for the lipo battery on the Tc7 and the Xray T4 and I looove the set up and look. The only reason why I mention other lipos was because I have a Robitronic avid one of the first ones and I didn't realise until after a while that i wanted lipo, so long story short I tried everything to make a lipo stick as i don't like altering or drilling chassis... It wouldn't stay and so now i have decided to get an actual lipo roller and put all the gear in that, the saddest part was the amount of money i put into it and in the end wasn't what i wanted. So for that car i have a lipo with deans connector but don't mind if i have to get a new battery just thought i would try. I do like the bullet connectors but yeah just ticking all the boxes mate and double checking. I have always like Xray and also have an Nt1. What about Serpent, Any you could recommend from them? I loove Serpent as i have there 977e

You could use some kind of adapter cable, with bullet plugs for the lipo on one end and a Deans connector towards your ESC - although I would not recommend this, as each connector will add some resistance, etc. In racing, plain bullet connectors are standard.
Serpent has an interesting TC, with a non-standard design: http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...oject-4-x.html, but by being a non-standard design, it maybe a little harder to understand how it works and in finding a good setup. Also, if you break something on race day, it will probably be much harder to get replacement parts than with a brand like Xray or Associated. For most classes in electric racing you'll need a 190mm chassis, so I never bothered looking at a 200mm car - sorry can't tell you anything about that NATRIX. |
Awesome thanks for the advice. Actually i did notice that the serpent project 4-X did look rather different to most i have seen. Is there a big difference between the T4 and the T4 Graphite?

Also is that for carpet or asphalt as i need asphalt? How can you tell generally when buying if it doesn't specify?

Assuming we're talking about the Xray T4 2017 - the car comes with a graphite chassis, with the exception of the US, where it was sold with the flex aluminium chassis. Both chassis (plus the non-flex alu chassis) are available as tuning parts. The graphite chassis is mostly used for asphalt / low grip while the alu chassis is for carpet / high grip racing, as it has less flex. So depending on what surface you're planning to run on, you choose your chassis.

Looks good. Appears to be cheaper than over here, too. But: the T4'17 was released in September 2016 - so we might see the 2018 version within the next 3 weeks. (maybe not in shops, but on Xray's site). So it might be worth waiting for that.

Yeah it's a great price. I don't plan on racing where I am as the club is a while away but maybe a few times. So would the 2018 upgrades be worth waiting for mate?

With these being kits, it's your choice as to what moto/esc is used. Lipo fit fine,both standard and shorty sized. Some of mine use bullet connection, some use more typical deans/Traxxas connections. It's your choice. How is the pavement since sounds like track running will be secondary use? I run mine on both prepared and unprepared surfaces. Tc4 is shaft driven, the tc7 and T4 are belt driven. |
I have both Xray and Associated Touring cars , I would go with the xray.
Replacement parts cost about double for the Xray though:tire: |

Probably not. If set on a XRay I'd suggest looking for used. Soon after the new model is released, the older ones usually start to pop up for sale. I bought my T4 14 model few months after the 2015 came out. Got full car plus spares I still haven't needed for less then the kit alone.
