Aluminium differential cases for TB series cars

The new aluminium differential arrived.
A beautiful piece of art.

25g overall. Not bad. Using full steel internals, ball bearings instead of bushings and Hiro Seiko titanium screws. Oil filling is 0.6g.

Nice! I thought it would be a bit heavier but just checked my stock one (only exception of full metal internals) is at 25.3g, so the weight difference could be overcome with titanium screws and bearings.

Actually the aluminium diff is slightly lighter than the plastic version, which really surprised me.

Some pages ago I made some weight comparisons. This is the diff out of the box tuned with bearings and steel internals:

Biggest advantage is, that the cracks around the screw holes are now history. Without the steel gears you can get a weight under 20g, which comes really near to the weight of a TB04 ball diff (17g).

Does the TA06 Lightweight spool outdrives (54544) fit on this car?

Nice layout! I'm a big fan of SD chassis and this one is simply beautiful. I also like the transparent gear casing cover.

Yes they fit but you need the optional 42mm axles (#42239) for your front double cardans for proper fitting with blades.

so i got the car pretty well balanced with the shorty battery after moving stuff all over the place. Also below minimum weight for usgt now. what gearing are you guys running in usgt? i just want to make sure i am in the ballpark with my new motor for this season. I have not ran a fan in the past.

aracefan 10-28-2018 06:41 PM

I run a TC7.1 in USGT, for now because the TB Evo 7 is on it's way... but you will want to run a fan. Not sure on the gearing... as I don't have the car yet.

i bounced around from 54/86 to 51/86. 54 definitely had to have a fan on it... i have a hobbywing v3 and I just dont have the mph to compete. my car is great through the infield, but I just dont have the speed needed.
