I'm thinking of getting one for VTA racing, but wonder - can you get gearing down to about 3.6 or so?
|
Yep I'm down to 2.96 if considering using 2.4 as IR with 74T spur (Axon and Arrowmax do these) and 60T pinion (64p) on my TB Exo6. Should be able to do the same on the Evo 7

Isn't Evo6/7 internal ratio 2.5 (16/40T) ? 2.4 was evo5, which had 39T ring gear

Manual of TB EVO 7 can be downloaded here:
https://tamiyablog.com/2017/12/assem...evo-7-chassis/ It's originated from Tamiya Germany. |
Hi Guys,
does anybody already have some experiences during races ? i am interested into this chassis, but it would be nice if anybody could share some experiences .:) I already had an Evo6 + exo6 conversion and was really happy with that car. at the moment I am racing a 419x and its also a fast car. so if you would share your feelings about the evo7 I would be very thankful :) cheers Flo |
I was so hyped to try a different chassis and I was pretty sure it was going to be this one. Unfortunately, reading all the feedback and the fact that the chassis is so heavy, I decided to stay away and try something else.

May I know how the ball diff runs compare to the gear diff?

@Tom1977
Quick question for you... I have the funds now to pick up an Evo7, or, I have a line on an Evo6 MS still new in the box with some really nice hop-ups... which one?? I have experience with the 6, although the 7 has me intrigued. The Evo6 deal just looks too good to pass up though. Is the 7 that substantial of an upgrade? Thanks! -Barry |

Thanks! -Barry Evo 7 has excellent drive train because of cancellation of the center gear box and of course the new aluminium gearboxes. Various layouts are possible. Weight out of the box is a little problem but solvable (see my buildt). Big big minus in my opinion is the availability of spare parts (80% of the kit are 7-digit special parts) and the lack of an optional graphite chassis plate. If your aluminium chassis plate bends in a crash your kit is completely done. Didn't find one shop worldwide that has Evo 7 spareparts (7-digit ones). Maybe they will appear in the future... At this point I would recommend Evo6 MS if you can make a good bargain and if you want to race it regularyly. Plenty of Evo6 spare parts are available. Future will show if Tamiya delivers some important spare parts. Don't misunderstand. EVO 7 is a beautiful car but I do not trust myself to race it on a regular basis with no support from Tamiya. |
Thanks for the quick response Tom, appreciate it!
I'm was kinda leaning to the 6 already as I've had 4 (3 with Exo6 conversion) and have been kicking myself for getting rid of them, or course, I didn't need 4 of'em. :rolleyes: I don't plan on racing this one, or the 7 if I got it, just to build up and put a nice body on it and take it to the track to run a few laps - I have a TC7.1 and a VBC D08 to race. I will put the Exotek conversion on it too as it is a great car with that setup. I ran one of my old ones in USGT and it was very competitive with all the 4wd belt cars. Not my home track, and I broke a C-hub in the main :cry: - but was running 4th out of 9 at the time. I will probably pick up a 7 in the summer sometime as it gets hot at our off-road track and I like to go down to Dallas to play in the A/C!! :lol: Thanks again for your feedback, brother, you just kinda confirmed the thoughts I had. Take care, man! [And, of course I have followed your Evo7 build ;) ] |
just bought one for usgt and tcs gt1....
just trying to figure out a body at this point. anyone using one on black crc carpet? |
