yes 42102 is right size TRF for touringcar

EvoIII came before the spool era, we ran oneways back then.

You can use balldiff parts without the balls to build a spool.

Alternately you can get a TBe5/TB03 spool which can be made to fit TBeIII.
Put a TBevoIII oneway gear onto this spool axle and you need to make the
whole unit a tiny bit narrower... lose about 0.5-1.0mm is needed.
(Measure width of diff vs spool to guage how much narrower you need)
I filed out the outdrives' pin holes so they can sit further in on the axle.

Don't listen to anyone who says its a drop-in fit... only with a big hammer
Then you'll be wondering why your 1510 bearings keep failing under the sideways stress.

Spools don't work too well on eIII btw... this car predates "crazy power
brushless" and we raced it with brushed motors where oneways were faster.

Try it with a 2nd balldiff maybe, it might be better than a spool.

Only reason i put spool in mine is because it went in the rear

yeah all my eIII fleet are retired to display & drift duty

heh i love the eIII... they worked well for me, took it to TCS
Did sell off some cars but still got fair fleet left in all 3 colours
plus a red kit autographed by Surikarn whilst he was World Champ

shouldn't be too hard to piece together a balldiff,
most parts are common bits except for diff outdrives

eIII outdrives
eIII balldiff gear
2x 850 BBs
M2x25 diff screw & nut (u can even use yokomo or 3Racing parts)
thrust bearing ( "" )
spring
diff rings... i think they're F201
3mm balls (not needed for spool)

Cut some cardboard same size as diffrings for spacer between diffrings & the gear.

if u can, buy the BLACK outdrives (from TBeIII) which are
cheaper & less brittle than the white TBeIIISE ones

avoid buying TB02 diff outdrives unless you have really no alternative,
the eIII parts were unable to find few yrs back but have since reappeared

Spool mod here if you need http://melbrc.org/vB/showthread.php?t=4376

seems like the cheapest way would to buy the TB03D spool and modify it. Because piecing together a balldiff alone is going to be around $50.. too much considering i only paid $100 for the roller..haha..

btw is this the car you're talking about?

if it is... bad news buddy, that ain't an eIII

Original TBeIII came in green, TBeIII Surikarn Edition was red
and eIII only appeared in blue if you added the blue hopup kit (pic shown earlier up)

Yours looks like a TB Evo IV... i don't think its the later IVms

III, IV & 5...

damn.. i got scammed... haha... i think it is a evo iv... now that i look at the manual for iv... so the IV is worst than the III... i would think it would be better since its newer...

great... now this messes everything up.. hopefully i'll have better luck shopping for IV parts than III..

i would't say "bad"... yeah my eIV pictured above didn't really work for me
compared to eIII or e5 so that runner got sold off shortly afterwards
although i still have 1 of 2 NIB kits i bought originally + some parts

but guess what i was doing last week... yep, giving eIV another go

another mangy example landed on my doorstep & i gave it uber TLC...

upgraded diff to alloy TBe5 spec

changed the IV bulkheads to IVms spec, option clear covers

you're in luck, TB03 spool (~$20?) IS NOW A DROP-IN FIT

(however u should change the gear to correct eIV part, TB03 uses e5 gears)

end result:-

now with ltd edn green shaft, also green steering rack borrowed from a TBeIII

actually i am happy that its a IV now and not eIII. Parts seem to be easier to get, even a local shop has IV parts...

little confused...you mentioned earlier "(however u should change the gear to correct eIV part, TB03 uses e5 gears)"??? isn't the gears already eIV since the car is eIV
