Cars looked pretty fast. Now all you have to do is get more folks to come on board.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been curious about mounting up GT style bodies to pan cars for a while now... Especially the Protoform PFM10. I have the X-ray X10 2015 kit, any tips out there for what adjustments need to be made for a 190mm touring car body? My only guess is using different body mounting hardware..

Thanks!

The PFM10 is 197 mm in the back.
My x10-15 is 198 mm at the rear wheels with 1mm spacers on each side.
There is 2mm to play with...I would be afraid of body tucks.

Default PFM-10

The last time I ran my PFM-10 I did two practice runs, 3 Q's and a Main. Only one body tuck in practice. I run 5mm clearance around the rear wheel. Rear track is 198mm.

Jorge, did you have to modify your stock body posts in any way to allow for the different front/rear dimensions of the body compared to the common wgt bodies like the protoform gianna or sophia?

I used new body posts from a 10r5 on my crc, they were the longest ones I found. as you can see in the picture a few posts back, I could cut down if I wanted. my WGT posts are a lot shorter and the ones from my 1/12 though uncut were a little short also.

Talking Updates to the Rules and Reg's

1s esc required with out booster or rec pack. If you don't already have a designated 1s esc, the Track Star Gen II is fantastic and very affordable.

So you decided to add a rule about 1S ESC's that serves no purpose, makes everyone ask "why?" and fundamentally slow the growth of the class in the process. Am I all caught up now?

kind of yes. I am not the one, only a supporter. Dave, the one that started the class last year is having a few issues come up where they race in FL. Being here in California and the only one to run this class (here) I am just relaying the information in support of spec175gt. I wish I had more info on the reason but hope they get it ironed out soon. the FB page has a little more on the topic and a few good reads on each opinion.

Florida guys Cheat (that's a little tongue and cheek) - and this comes from the 1c OVAL world where they are backfeeding rec. packs to boost 1c voltage to the ESC -

IF a Receiver pack is plugged into a NORMAL Receiver to run the SERVO as designed, there is no back feed. But creativity w/ some ESC's, the rec. packs get wired into the ESC instead of being plugged into the receiver - and do/will send some of the higher voltage back to the motor, and this can be detected by the user, because his receiver pack will be DEAD or nearly DEAD in one heat race, where when run normally, even a small 250mAh rec. pack will last almost ALL DAY on a single charge.

You guys have not seen anything yet on what he's going to do. He's made my car a shelf queen. As for the esc I've got the correct ESC sitting in a box that I took out of the car. I installed a 1 cell mamba removed the plastic case and removed the heat sink fins (to fit in my car). I ran a booster. When he complained the first time a month ago I put the plastic case back on- no big deal. The guys running Mamba's with a reciever pack and removing the plastic case is his problem . and anyone using a 2 cell ESC that requires a booster or reiever pack to run.I presonnely like the mamba over my Hobbywing 3.1.

I agree w/ BILL - we ran the MAMBA's in OVAL w/ no case (I have 3 or 4 of them laying around not in use because they HAD to have a rec. pack) but I have put them in my 1c On-Road Pan cars.

I also have tekin's (that I ran rec packs w/ for 1c - but they are now in my 4wd GT10 Series Touring cars which is 2c - so no worries.

Rec packs SUCK to need to use them - but they are something that has been used in R/C longer than the 30 years I've been doing this -- now all of a sudden -- they are EVIL! (it's NOT the rec. packs -- it's the CHEATERS who choose to use them to BOOST their performance)

I dont have a dog in this fight but I would think backfeeding rx packs in a faster class wouldnt net a noticeable difference. Enter spec classes with slower motors: the slight voltage boost would result in a difference.

Im not sure about the reason behind not allowing a 2s esc with a cheap servo booster going to the receiver, maybe its just easier for inspection to trace the wiring. The complaint of having to buy a new esc is legitimate but doesnt hold much water to me because we drop $100-200 on esc's w/o batting an eye and yet Trackstar has a nice 1s for $50.
