VBC WILDFIRE D07

Well more updates are out and a thread has yet to be started. So instead of drowning the D06 thread with D07 stuff here we go.

So the new car has some pretty cool features so far. I dont know if any are "new" never before seen, but I havent seen some of them yet. At the very least not on one awesome car.

I really like the floating steering rack. Not real sure of the benifit other than more controled chassis flex, but its friggin cool lookin.

The pully system is also pretty cool. Not big on the red anno, but I know its there signature color and its just an accent. They leave the big peices gunmetal. Anyway NO MORE E-CLIPS... this is awesome. I hate e-clips and set screws and pins. This system eleminates all of that. You look at the design and cant help but wonder; Its so simple, why hasn't this been done before now?

The crows feet toe blocks. Not original, but a good idea. Neber thought about it helping to control flex. I thought it was a way to control hinge pin tweak. Having 3 screws centers the part much better than 2.

One feature I was hoping for but not getting is Pro-5 style upper bulkheads and camber mounts. Those just look awesome. (Thats the only feature worthwhile on that car). But glad to see a redesign anyway. The hole closest to to shock tower support was useless unless you shaved down your ball cup. And everyone knows how difficult it can be to cleanly shave your balls cups.

If some of the guys who have posted pics of the car and links to spy shots could also post them here that would be awesome. Im doing this from my phone and it difficult to do that kind of stuff.

Can't wait to see some of the other new features of this car. I'm hoping for some different sway connectors that are vertical to be able to easily adjust swaybar tweak.

Damn I want one.....

I do like the single sided layshaft mount. It is one of the things that I like about the yokomo bd7. Another benefit to the floating steering rack is it makes front belt changes easier. You no longer have to dismantle the steering to remove the belt.

I think the real question is...

Where can we pre-order :):):):)

patorz31 10-15-2014 11:06 AM

Vbcracingusa.com will have a pre order up soon.

DBM 10-15-2014 12:02 PM

Mmmm....discounted D06's soon.....hopefully.

The steering set-up is pretty boss.... nice touch.

theproffesor 10-15-2014 05:33 PM

Just realized thats a 67 tooth pinion. Holy crap thats HUGE. What tooth spure is on there? It looks like the iether the 116 or the 96 that comes in the 06 or the Ghost. But if its the 116 and you can fit a 67 tooth pinion, thats alot of room for gear ratio choices.

What class was this car running. You cant see the motor.

67T, 84P

theproffesor 10-15-2014 06:30 PM

That gives a total ratio of 2.38. Thats seriously low. The 116 t spur makes more sense to give a ratio of 3.28. Thats still on the low side, even for VTA. whatever motor is in there has some serious torque or the internal ratio has changed to something higher than 1.9.

I wonder if the final product the c-hub design will have changed? I never liked how thr front loop would rest on the arm. I am at my max droop with the front at 3mm running VTA.

Potoczak 10-15-2014 06:31 PM

Do I see red aluminum rear hubs in the one pic???:D

theproffesor 10-15-2014 06:34 PM

Yes they are already offered for the D06 on VBC USA website.

patorz31 10-15-2014 06:35 PM

Those are Lee Speed 84 pitch gears. In the IIC pics.

Because its 84 pitch the spur gear is probably 128 (or more) teeth bringing it at least to the 3.5-3.6 FDR range if it's a 128.

Either way the car looks awesome!

theproffesor 10-15-2014 06:47 PM

84 pitch? Is that smaller than 64p? Damn thats some super fine gear mess. Why would you need anything like that. Unless you are looking to get just that much more gesring options. But changing by 1 tooth at a time with that pitch would result in very little change.

RobS 10-15-2014 06:53 PM

That's basically what they are made for... Finer more accurate gearing adjustments.

patorz31 10-16-2014 06:32 AM

Anyone seen anymore "spy shots" from IIC???

I want to see some more pics as well Pat! The new kit looks awesome and I might have to give one a try (even though I just ordered a T4 2015. :)

Troy put me on the list. The D06 is nice but the D07 looks amazing.

theproffesor 10-17-2014 07:41 AM

So it was mentioned that one of the new things will be "harder" plastics. Does this mean stiffer (more brittle), or was this meant to mean stronger. After the upgrade to the V2 suspension parts, I am not seei g a need for a return to harder plastics. I broke several V1 C-Hubs, spindles and arms on my Ghost and D05. After I changed all the parts over on my Ghost, and got the D06, I have a bunch of spares I have yet to use. My car handles great on carpet, is very durable, and I thought you would want more flex for low traction asphalt. So why the need for "harder" plastics?

I would like in on the pre-order as well.

Send me with details when anyone knows them.

patorz31 10-17-2014 09:07 AM

Hopefully it is stronger less flexible plastics. The harder suspension pieces should sharpen the car up on carpet. I love my D06 but it does feel different then my xray did but I am faster with the D06 though. It carries more corner speed for me then my T4 did. That and the D07 looks way sexier then the T4 '15 and if history is any indication for a lot less money.

theproffesor 10-21-2014 05:20 AM

Pics of the new motor mount released (its stupid hard to upload from my phone). I looks pretty cool and robust. But I dont see a place for the fan mount to go. I guess they decided its ok just to shoe goo one to the chassis now? Or use an aftermarket mount like the Orca clamp type? Thats would be ashame. I really liked how VBC thought of making a fan mount specifically for their own car in the past.

Here are some detail for D07 .It could be released middle of Nov

patorz31 10-21-2014 05:53 PM

VBC said on Facebook that they will be shipping in Nov.

theproffesor 10-27-2014 06:30 PM

Wellits been pretty slow on here. Anymore shots of the 07 and its unique features? Its getting pretty close to November. I know they won't go out on the 1st, but Id like to see some more pics and some more info on the features.

patorz31 10-27-2014 07:02 PM

I already messaged Troy saying "Take my money now!!!" But he is waiting for the details of the release.

The 06's have super soft suspension plastics. Softest I've ever seen. Coming off a rough round I'd surely have to check on droop and camber settings as these don't hold very well. Yeah, better for grip, but I'd like to see medium plastics at least in arms and tie rod ends. Hopefully the 06's can use these new parts...

chasingthepack 10-28-2014 02:18 AM

they need to hurry up and release it,if its not out in a week then ill be sticking with xray

The D07 come with extra hard plastic parts. Even the D07 parts had revised suspension geometry but they the arms, c hub, upright can still fit the D06.

theproffesor 10-28-2014 02:43 AM

New geometry huh? That means the new parts are different from the old material and design. How long are they going to keep parts support up for the 06?

It is possible to change the geometry while keeping the same plastic parts. I'm not sure if this is the case with the D07, but If the plastic parts are interchangeable, they very well could be the same parts.
To change geometry, the easiest way to do it is to change the lower suspension mounting block locations and Heights, as well as the position of the upper inner camber link mount on the bulkhead. Perhaps this is what VBC did. Hopefully more detailed info on the changes between the D06 and D07 surface soon.

As I know until now, D07 has been chaged upper bluk whole (4 to 2) and location also rear hub whole (2 to 1) , changed shock tower ( different shape but don't know they change the height. ) I have some picture but I can't update here.
So please wait for a while.

matt31313 10-29-2014 01:11 AM

Jimmy Maddison won the first round of the EWS 13.5 blinky class - the UK's biggest carpet winter series - with a D07. There's a photo of the chassis too:

Sorry didn't have a high enough post count to post the URL properly.

Are they changing the shocks too? Even if he black annoed them, they dont look right
