I would start with stock setup which is good starting point. I race with some minor changes:

1. Less front toe out (around 1.5)
2. Springs (I use SMJ - 2.8 or 3.0 linear rear, 2.7-3 progressive front
3. One step harder front antirollbar
4. Soft (ball) central stiffener
5. Top Deck from WS

If you use alu deck I would recommend to use thinner top deck (Vigor 1.6)
Diff oil 6k up. Lately I use 8k some use 10k
Dampers oil 450-500

Important:
1. Mill/sand topdeck near spur gear as the clearance is too small. While driving it will spur rubs against topdeck (I had this in 419X, WS and XR as well)
2. Use third bearing inside spur gear (pulleys). You have to buy this separately. It will save you pain with sloppy spur and shaft. In the end pulleys would have to be replaced as they wobble. It cannot be shimmed as the shims press against bearings making them too tight.

Those are IMHO two obvious flaws in this model.

Can you share a pic of what you do with the Spur? Sounds interesting. I shim to stop the spur wobble, but your idea sounds better.
Thanks,
Jose

I used third bearing (3 or 4mm wide) inside one of the pulleys - red arrow shows where you should put your bearing. With three bearings shaft and pulleys have close to none play. When assembled I have just very, very tiny play (I think < 0,1mm) and spur spin freely for a couple of seconds. This tiny play is needed as spur and pinion will nicely mesh.
Bearings are standard size but different ones for X/XWS and XR (XR has thicker shaft).

TRF419X Pulley and additional bearing

The TA07MS has just started to hit stores (That is a new TRF, a single belt 419XR). Also the 419XR has recently been released globally as a full kit. It will be a while before a new 419 but there will be one at some point I am sure

There will infact be more TRF cars and MS cars.. this is from sources in Tamiya.. so please don’t spread unverified rumours
