No more hits than normal Ed, it just appeared the shim washer had gone concave and thus pushed the gear off the pin. I'm sure if I had bothered to get replacements gears and used a different shim it'd be fine.Yes, running 4.5t on smallish track. I wasn't saying just go shove steel gears in there, it got me out of trouble as I had them already :)
Loving the car, only real change for the low/med tracks I run on is firm the springs up and plenty of droop.

Firmer springs? That's different from what I would have expected.

Just finished my car and can't wait to try it out. Next Tuesday, fingers crossed.

Phil.

The kit springs are a bit softer than then asphalt standard HPI silvers, so that's probably the main thing. I'm actually running Schu greens, but that's what I had in the pit box (and they are a copy of the HPI's anyway!), with shocks now in hole 4front and rear... So a bit stiffer than kit.

Where's the best place to buy parts? Preferably in the states.

I've purchased most of my TAM parts from tqrcracing.com in SoCal. They've never let me down.

If your hitting up SMA, come say hello. I'll post my setup from this Tuesday just gone in a while... Car felt very nice to drive even on old boots, and pace seemed pretty decent 😊

+1 TQ is awesome.

At present everyone seems to be out of the front and rear uprights. They're out of stock even at Tamiya and few sites abroad. For spares, I ended up ordering the 416 style

Yes, that's the plan. I'm a little hamstrung on springs at the moment. For the life of me I can't find my HPI Silvers or Ride Reds. Other than the damper mounts, the car is straight out of the manual.

Wednesday night racing is on the cold side, so the firmer springs (currently Ride greens) work the tires more generating heat as the kit springs just didn't do that.

That's quite interesting, cause the Ride Greens are still quite a bit softer than the HPI Silvers... Reds are close in rate (if not feel, Rides are more progressive than HPI springs), but the is still the Blues between the Red and Greens. But hey, if it works :sneaky:

Unfortunately I have neither the Ride reds or the HPI Silvers...yet...need to grow my collection  Added some Yokes to the collection but they were a little disappointing, will have to try the springs above the pinks.

+2 for TQ. I just got my latest order from TQ yesterday. Ordered late Sunday night, arrived yesterday....plenty of time before this weekend's TCS. Better pricing, more inventory, and faster shipping than Tower even though I'm in the same state as Tower Hobbies.

Yesterday was my first race with 419. I built the car almost 2 months ago and racing just started this week. I used Wilck set up from ETS as a baseline.

All I can say is that I am ALL SMILES. In all the years I have ran Tamiya, I have never had a car that drove so nice on its first outing. In the past, whether it was my 416WE or TB04; I always struggled with rear end grip. Not last night, out of the box the car was on rails. The only change I made was stand up the front shocks one hole. With a chassis this good, I can work on improving my own driving abilities.

Btw: built diff as per kit using kit supplied red o rings. No leak on out drives at all. There was some oil sweat on belt... left over from overfilling diff.

Oops.. I meant Victor Wilck ETS set up :D

I always confuse my Vs and Ws.. That's why I don't drive volkswagens ;)
