Any of the top motor brands will be comparable in performance. Trinity seems to run very cool so I pick those. The d3.5 is faster then the others but not by much.

I think it's very hard to say which is faster now vs then !!! If they are all equipped with a 12.5mm rotor, it's a matter of figuring out the gearing, acceleration points, etc..... My Novak ballistic with a 12.3mm rotor could not keep up, but once I put in the 12.5mm rotor, that was it ! Lots of bottom End with great top End: got to gear it much higher than other motors though...

i would say any motor with a HT Rotor
i was running the thunder power motor & put the green rotor in it & gear at 3.51 i was .4tenth faster then the red rotor that it comes with...

D3.5..i would get it will a waste of money in couple of months

killshot

orca

or even a revtec with a HT rotor

or D3 With A HT if you can find 1

thunder power green rotor

you just have to find the right gearing & timing for what ever motor you get

I'm running a tc4 club racer in gt class 17.5 blinky. Currently using a tekin rs gen2 and a lrp x12 17.5
I know my car is heavier than most of the chassis I'm up against AMD the tc 4 is limited on how much gear I can fit. My main prob is in order get enough speed to keep up on the straight I've got such tall gearing that I can't keep my speed up in the infield. Any recommendation on a motor that would give me more punch and more top end would be appreciated. I run this as my fun class really don't want to drop the cash on a mod worthy chassis just lighten things up. I'm at 1480g now most of my competition is around 1430-1440g.

I also run a 1422g-1462g tc4 with 3.75fdr gearing, novak ballistic 12.5mm ht rotor on a small track.... For that track, I have to gear up to 3.61 fdr to get any heat out of the motor, eventhough at 3.75fdr the speed was good....
On normal track I am guessing 3.4375fdr to test in december... Lrp motors do overheat alot more than the Novaks though.... To lose weight, you need a 250gram battery pack or less. I run 168gram packs to 208gram packs Thunderpower 2700/3300..
I also run a 55t spur gear to get to 3.4375fdr....

So do the Novak Vulcan spec & shuurspeed .
I did some testing with 21.5 motors a few months back and found the orca to be the fastest roar legal motor at that time .
I must say i was doing something right with my tests i was the only person out of 40+ to run in the 10sec lap at that race .
EA did some testing with 17.5 and swapped between the killshot with a 12.5 teal rotor and a orca with no noticable lap time differneces . tho i think (from memory ) he liked the orca better cause of it having that notchie feel .
And the D3.5 for him was .3 faster ....... Yea I know paper weight come april

I think I'm running like a 3:65 FDR can't remember the spur and pinion but that lrp Finns hot like 165-175 after a heat
What's the difference in the x12 and the x20 when I try looking at spec sheets my eyes glaze over

Hmm so maybe I should just pick up a HT d3.5 since we don't really enforce ROAR rules...

We don't now. Not sure if Chris will allow them come April though. If you notice they are not restocking them in the shop. I would just get a killshot with the HT/HT or an orca. Thst way if you do ever race somewhere else you won't be caught out. You won't go wrong with either of those.

Your best bet is to get a hold of Eric Anderson. I have not seen mikes carry any of the motors, only a few esc's. I know Eric has some motors coming in this week.
