Which touring car
I'm looking at a new car so the question is which one in my views as I already have a good T3 is do I move to the 4 or do I go for a complete move to a Schumacher ????????????????
|
I started with a schumacher mi5 so my opinion is limited
but depends how much money you wanna spend and how far you wanna go in your racing. |
In my opinion, it really boils down to personal preference. With all the new kits that came out last year till present and kits coming out next year, they all seem to mimic each other with the exception of Schumacher. Its pretty much asking for a cupcake with or without sprinkles.

The mi5 is dialed out of the box, especially on low/medium carpet
Only minor changes is necessary to get the car suited to your likings |

ive hammered a t4 and the newer 14 and i havent broken one part,i do seem to kill bearings quickly though also what surface your on,on carpet the mi5 is on top but on ashphalt the t4 seems more popular |
xray tough? everyone ive seen has just lost parts or broke something
i never broke my mi5 and i hit stuff hard worryingly hard. |
Both are fine kits, though I do agree that the xray is more durable.
|
Haven't broken anything on my Xray since racing it in February. I have finally started to wear the stock plastic spool cups and my front CVDs need to be rebuilt but thats about it.
|
Xray is tough as a tank. The reason most Xray rollers for sale come with alot of new parts still in package is because you'll buy them just in case you break, but rarely ever do.
|
Dude I've watched guys at my LHS hammer their T4 and it keeps going! I wish I got one instead of the H4. T4 all the way!
|
You cannot go wrong with either one, if those were my only two choices I would go with the T414. I did a search in the for sale section and their are a lot of MI5's for sale and only one T414 as of today, so if you want an MI5 now is the time to get one for a good deal. Make's you wonder why so many MI5's are for sale though!

For the price, ive been more than happy with my H4.

the yokomo BD7-2014 should also be taken into consideration
|
I went for the Mi5 and am very happy with it. I also have a VBC Wildfire D06 on the way and all reports are extremely good on this car. So many good cars out there now but Xray is a no risk choice.
|
If I were you I would get a T4 simply because it might share parts with your T3. It can save you lots of trouble.
But if they don't share parts, I would recommend the Yokomo BD7 2014 or the Mi5. Get Yokomo's because they are just fast cars and they don't break like they do before. I drive a BD7 and a BD5, and they both do very well especially the BD7. I don't know much about the Mi5. There are a few at our track and they are FAST out of the box. |
Brokomo BD-7?
A buddy of mine just picked one up after selling off a T4. He's broken parts every single time he's been at the tracks ever since he got the Yokomo. I don't think he's finished a full run without breaking a c-hub or a knuckle or SOMETHING. |

Brokomo bd7 LOL
i think i went with the right choice on the BD 7 RS, soo much plastic it just bounces lol |
We race on a medium indoor carpet track, and he's one of the fastest mod guys at our place.
He just hasn't finished a full 6 minute run ever since he picked up the BD7. Sure, the car does look fast, but it just doesn't have the durability of an Xray. |

There needs to be a sticky, titled along the lines of before you post a "which car should I get" thread...
It's been said sooo many times (and it's true), the Xray is tough. It can be plowed into solid objects and seemingly shrug it all off. Want strong? Buy the Xray. As for all other cars.... What does everyone at your track run? What does your LHS support? Which color gives you the warm, fuzzy feeling? How different do you like to be? What is your budget? Because they all work and if set up properly they can all potentially win. That basically covers it. I've seen Awesomatix cars do very well. I've also seen $100 Sakura's do very well. If you're still learning (as I believe most people starting these threads are) then stick to what is popular locally so you can get help and pointers. Oh, and yeah I'd say get a T4. |
I now a lot of guys who moved from Xray or other makes to the Mi5, the vast majority have now moved back to the Xray t4'14 even though they were sponsored by Schumacher!
All comment the Xray is far superior in quality, doesn't tweak as easily is more consistent during the heats and through the day. And all have improved their times since switching. I think that says it all. Yes I switched to the Xray T4 and now the T4'14 best car I have ever had. Very rarely if ever break anything. |
