Glad to see someone stepping up to bring this into the mainstream! I am trying to get some interest going up here in the DFW area. The rough rules we have are:

1. 3s or 4s lipos
2. Open motor (brushless, sensored or sensorless)
3. 8 min Quals, 10 min mains (this is still up in the air but should be doable with a 5000mah pack)
4. Treaded or slick rubber tire (no foams)
5. Any body as long as it's not a lola, wedge, open cockpit
6. Any 1/8 buggy based shaft drive platform. No beltdrive cars.

Thank you for getting involved

These seem like a great base set of rules for IGT8F ELECTRIC "OPEN", simple and easy to follow.

I have no experience racing electric GT8, so all your input and feedback is greatly appreciated to making this Class a reality.

Keep it coming fellas, IGT8F is for the racers and tracks to be involved.

Why is there a 3 or 4S lipo limit? A 6S system with a lower KV will yield the same speeds, but less heat. I do not believe there is an advantage of a 6S system on a track over a 4S system. On another note, one can also play with a 6S battery and high mah and get longer run times... albeit weight will be more with this setup. Thoughts?

Weight is a concern and since the target was low cost when converting from a 1/8 buggy (where most people seem to run 3/4s) no need to purchase new batteries (or start chasing the dragon with people running higher cell counts).

For the heat/efficiency side, here in TX it gets pretty hot and so far no thermal issues with 4s. A properly geared/motored car on 4s shouldn't overheat and give up much to a 5s or 6s car (ie should be a wash in the end)

Lastly where we have run thus far isn't huge where higher speeds would be possible.

Great job guys let's keep it up. You have a dedicated Thread on IGT8F for GT8 Electric.

If you all can help get a set of rules finalized, we can Official add your class and promote it for races.
