Same parent manufacture, but different branding. Speedpassion actually does this with their Sp-1 Formula 1 chassis. Its a gunmetal car under the Speedpassion name and red under Tresrey.

Either way, the car looks pretty awesome!

RedBullFiXX 09-20-2013 08:53 AM

Looks cool
Hiro Factory or VBC L12, either way

LloydLoar 09-20-2013 09:21 AM

Rumour has it that all of the bolt spacing on this car is compatible with AE as well, which is nice if true!

T-Hawk 09-20-2013 09:25 AM

I like, I like:nod:

jeff jenkins 09-20-2013 09:51 AM

nothing special by any means but should be a solid performer.

valk 09-20-2013 10:21 AM

Sure does look like a 12r5. Id try one if its out pretty soon.

Thanks T-Bag...

Clegg 09-20-2013 01:07 PM

Any words on pricing?

valk 09-20-2013 01:20 PM

Site says $299. Which is the upper end of 1/12 =\. For $200 id be all over it.

Clegg 09-20-2013 01:31 PM

Ohh I didn't see the pricing on the VBC site, I assume that's retail pricing not the discount pricing that we often see on the web.

hanulec 09-20-2013 04:12 PM

at least the battery slot/cut-outs under the chassis aren't "solid". looks better than cell slots :)

That is the MSRP price. The retail price would be very attractive.

Sweet ride.... love the black with chrome chamfered edges.. matches the Hudy station perfect. Has it been confirmed that the front end bopts up to the 12R5.2? Looks like a hybrid may be in the future. .. Then Ehrlich and Maybell can both share me. ;)

Mugen10 09-21-2013 05:39 PM

Very nice looking car! I like the idea that parts can be used from AE if you can't get your hands on the real deal. (if that is true)

Gridworks Racing 09-22-2013 06:41 PM

Parts availability will not be a problem.

Where's the thread for your F1?

Gridworks Racing 09-23-2013 09:08 AM

Hey JayBee.

The original Flash04 thread was created some time ago.

I will get the thread bumped.

Yes, had check the pre-production sample, the r5 front end plastic parts will bolt onto the VBC front end without issue.

Nono, nowhere near that. It will be lower than the r5.1 street price. :D

Hustler 09-30-2013 01:23 PM

Anyone else notice the tweak springs aren't on top of the rear links? That changes some stuff for sure. That's not like the Associated.

You can either mount the springs inboard or you can also mount them so they touch on the top of the links, ala AE. As you move the springs inboard, I believe they will feel softer. We will see where Max and Dave end up mounting them :sneaky:

EDIT: Don't listen to me, I don't know what I am talking about.

Softer.

Moving the springs inboard decreases the motion ratio acting upon them... thus, it requires a stiffer spring to yield the same effective spring rate as the same car would with the springs mounted over the links.

LloydLoar 09-30-2013 02:19 PM

Thanks James, this is what happens when you don't think before posting. Either way, the car does support both spring positions.

I will try both positions this week!

Logi Maker 09-30-2013 08:28 PM

That's what she said.

dr_hfuhuhurr 10-03-2013 12:36 PM

Is there a WGT car in the pipeline?

Also, when will the manual for the Lightning 12 be posted?

roche.hk 10-03-2013 08:21 PM

Hum. that is a good idea. Let me tell the VBC guys. ;) BTW: retail price would be 249.99usd
