I am interested as well. Hopefully some of the VBC sponsored guys follow this thread. I'm not sure since I just started reading it.

More corner speed?

Defiantly run your car inline. Depends on what center shock you run too. I run a Hot bodies or Team Prime with a AE gold. Which will be stiffer than you can get the standard VBC shock.

Another thing to try would be SpeedMerchant Linear side springs on the pod not on the link like I have in my setup. Atleast run 20k-30k in your damper tubes. Blue front with green rear is the best my car has ever run on. Snowbirds traction was a little different this year which is why I ran Blue/Blue.

Also, I'm using a Slapmaster thrust bearing on the car and wondered what people are using for a diff nut, he recommends an aluminum lock nut so I purchased a set of M4 locknuts. They aren't threading on (and I won't force it). What are people using? I'll keep using the plastic nuts till I can find something.
There isn't really any advantage to using an aluminum nut. The Thread on the axle is just like every other standard axle for 12th. So it is US not metric. I just use the old white nylon 11/32 nuts on everything. 17.5 to mod and have no problem with them. I posted my 13.5 and WGT setup on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/277343609136952/

Ill try these things at practice this week. Broken both cars into parts to try inline vs transverse. All I have on me is crc springs. I run stock center shocj with 2holes and 900cst ae. Crc encore orings fixed all the leak problems and haven't had to refill shock since speed weekend.
One big surprise was blue black working lol. I thought it would push like a dumptruck but was sooo much easier to drive over blue/green magenta.
I like the corner entry of magenta but I'm just scrubbing way too.much. rotates super nice but app that's not what I need.
Ps on the slapmaster thrust kit, I went back to the stock nut. Nice and easy to adjust with my tc nut driver. Though I often forget that's what's on there. People.check my.dif and wonder wtf it is heh.

Thanks for this! Good seeing the D4 1s on there as well. Is 50* timing what people are running in 12th scale? I had an EA tuned one this weekend that was initially set to 30*. The thing didn't come alive till I bumped it to 40*.

I am still using the stock shock...thinking I really should switch to use others setups.

Here's my current setup. The car is setup inline, weight is 732g.

Car was good but I think I needed more on-power steering, especially on one 180* turn we had on the track. Through the chicane it was perfect so I'm not sure I want to mess with side springs or dampers.

Sheesh. I might have to start drilling half inch holes in my hobbywing to make these weights lol. 780g was the best I could.manage with a borrowed killshot lol.

Full titanium screws (3 Racing) helps with weight quite a bit.

I haven't run the D4 1s motor below the 50 degree mark. It seems like any lower and it is just slow.

The reason I run the Team Prime shock is because we don't have a center spring that is stiff enough. Team Prime with an AE Gold center spring is quite stiff. Having a stiffer center spring helps with on power steering. Team Prime or Hyperdrive makes a center shock too that is a little easier to find in stock.

Is the stock spring considered medium or med/hard? I'd like to stick to stock if possible. With crc orings its super smooth and consistant. Ae was alright.

tried the car out tonight and things started pretty well. i didnt do better than any of my best laptimes but the car was a lot more consistant and easier to drive with more on throttle steering. I am still fighting with sudden dartiness after even a minor incident. ive heard from 12r5 boys the pivot can be a problem in a crash, even a fairly minor one, so i left it loose which worked great for the first couple runs, but later in the evening the car become very darty and inconsistant with the steering..

bleh. just starting to think i suck at 12th scale perhaps.
