Im not sure what the reasoning is myself... I suspect it is just the stigma attached to the D3.5 name right now. And I do agree that it would have been nice to know the motor rules prior to registration opening, as I now have to restart my 13.5 program.

If the 13.5 and 21.5s really are legal, there is nothing to stop Ernie from dropping those stators in another can and resubmitting them to ROAR with plenty of time for them to be legal for Vegas.

I'm not sure if the D3.5 21.5 was ever submitted to test ?
Don't see it on the Roar list of approved motors

imo
Scotty has given plenty of notice on this
How about we focus on how epic the iic is, and look forward to having fun

With 70 days to go... Switching motors isn't that hard guys. Dump those things on rctech or eBay and get ready for the IIC experience. You can loose more $$ at a table or buffet line than selling off your d3.5

For me its hard. This will be my first IIC and it took me over a year just to save up for the trip and my equipment to buy. I have a stock pile of parts for a D3.5 13.5 ie stators and rotors etc. I don't think it easy to just dump all those parts and get my full money back. To me getting a new motor is not just another $90. Like another poster said, The rules or this motor conversion now should have been brought up before registration opened.

Banning motors whose legality was never in question, that's sure to minimize controversy

I don't think Scotty ever approved them and then changed his mind. It was others just speculating.

I haven't seen anything yet, but curious if anyone knows what the handout motor will be at IIC for Amateur Touring this year?

Are Orca IIC approved? or are they pending on ROAR approval before IIC will give them the green light?

I would guess Speed Passion again. I think he has used them for sometime now.

I also want to verify that for Spec GT, the lightweight Audi R8 body (pn: 84298) will not be legal, and will be checked for. It looks exactly the same as the one listed in the IIC site (51471), but is just lighter. Not sure if the bodies have their part number stamped in them for Tamiya bodies like some others do.

I know people tend to push the rules in hope of Tech not catching something...
