Default Touring Car 5min vs 6min Races

I've noticed that most of the big TC races are running 5 minutes instead of 6. does anyone know if this is going to be a new standard or is this done due to time constraints.

5minues IS the standard! 6minutes are done usually from clubs and 99% stock racing

5 minutes was established when NiCd and brushed motors were the standard. If you did not hold back early in a race, your battery could dump in the last few laps.

Given the state of the art for TC with BL and large capacity LiPo batteries, an 8 min. race would be reasonable. Track owners and announcers like the shorter races, so a 5 min. race seems to be what most tracks are settled on. We run 15 min heats with F1 in So Cal. Going back to a 5 min main seems like the race is over just as you are getting warmed up.

6 minute races are called for by the ROAR rulebook.

How large of a turnout are you getting at your local track ? In some cases I've run 5 min races to save time when there is a large turnout.

P.S. I can't figure why 1/12 scale gets to run 8 minute quals and mains ??!!

World standards set forth at the beginning of the RC era...
Gas cars ran longer obviously, but for electric On-Road, which was ONLY 12th scale, 8 mins was the answer, still is

Easy answer
because more is better

RC racers back in the day, were onto something, in that more is better theme
At least we still have one purest class

With lipo batts, it would be nice if all classes ran 8 minute races !!

Our club runs 6 minutes qualify and 12 minutes main. It is a blast with the longer main.

12th scale could (and would be fun) go 10 minutes

every place I've run in the last 3 years have gone to 6 minute qualifiers and mains - and especially the last 2 ROAR on-road nationals I've attended have been 6 minutes for qualifiers/mains, except for 12th scale

We run 6 minutes quals and mains for tc mod and stock. I would prefer 5 minutes as that's the length of my attention span.

I've raced 10 min mains running oval and that can seem like a long time when you have the TX in your hand focusing on your car. 12min must be crazy.

I hear in 1/8th scale they run for 45m

Just for fun, I've gone 30m+ on dusty parking lots

I would rather have 1 long race, than several short runs in a day

I'd move TC to 8mins, 1/12 to 15mins.
