Hi guys I am building a TT-02 as a Rally Car what would be a good starting point for diff. grease/fluid? I purchased the 99 Subi Kit by Tamyia. Thanks for any info for setup, also bought a set of Tamyia Hop-Up shocks, they aren't what I thought they would be but better than the friction shocks. Also Alum. shaft and cups and
alum. Motor mount for now. I run a XV01 but wanted to try a shaft driven car.

I have always heard that anything less then 500k will leak out of the TT02 diffs. I am running 500k in an on-road car and it seems to stay in OK. Not sure how well 500k will work in a rally car though.

I am running 500K and it has not really leaked, there is a wee bit of weeping but with over 50+ packs it is not a concern. If you do want to go thinner Raman, I believe, has experimented with making the diff a bit more leak free for thinner diff oils.

While I am not running my car on dirt I do run on totally unprepared tarmac which is pretty dusty and slick at times and 500K seems to be a good happy medium, I get a bit of torque steer when it is really slippery but it is nothing you can't live with.

One thing I did find is that in the high ground clearance mode there is some significant bump steer. You may be able to get rid of some of that by shimming the ball ends on the steering arms. I went to the low ground clearance setting and was still able to get 9-10MM of ride height and the car handles much better.

Cheers,
Jim

The 200k I have in my front diff, leaks "a little" But it takes lots of packs for it to come out. I've had to refill it once, in a year. so I think It's ok. ... and I'm running it in a car with a 13.5 turn motor.

Finally got my hands on a hardened white chassis and the year racing adjustable motor mount. Now I am running RRP 48dp Pro Spur and Pinion gears on a 25.5 for scale spec racing. Only driven it a few laps and had some setup issues that led me to turn to the TRF418. I'll get the setup dialed in and run this guy pretty hard this winter on carpet

Just bought a TT02R and I'm wanting to run it in USVTA. It seems that the must have is the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount. With my other car, I've been running a final drive ratio between 3.75 and 4.00. Any other parts that are must haves?

Nortran11 10-19-2017 11:50 PM

Yeah....get a Type S. Best upgrade you can get if you want to race

The YR motor mount makes life very easy and it is cheap so I would go for that if you need to work on FDR's.

Cheers,
Jim

If you've got a 418... why would you be messing with a tt02?

Anyone know what exact motor model comes with the 58571 TT-02 Porsche 1973 RSR? All I seem to find from specs is that it is a "power 540 brushed motor" which doesn't help much. Is it the RS-540 Sports Tuned or just the regular 540-J?

Odd that according to some sources the 58571 does have an ESC, according to others it doesn't. Why would it be sold with the same product number in two different configurations?

Most likely it's the 540j

I own a 419x and TT02S. I wanted to see how much performance I could squeeze out of the TT02S. In the end, it was darn impressive.

The only reason I stopped running it is because of chassis failure. The type S suspension shafts put a lot of pressure on the chassis.. since it is literally held by 2 screws..

According to Tower Hobbies it's a Torque Tuned motor.

Hmm. That's a problem I ran into on the TT02b. I had a wreck where the rear suspension arm ripped out of the chassis, causing a tear in the hardened chasssis.

That said, the TT02s is a lot better than I was expecting. The long arms, the nylon or better arms. Neat!

.. now I need to look at the TT02r. Hah.
