That new serpent mount looks efficient and practical, but I still think Yokomo has the coolest one. Aluminium + carbon =

Somebody mentioned floating battery before. It has been said that putting the tape around the battery to hard can effect the handling, or using a stiff battery hold down system like xray offers. Companies in the aftermarket have came out with battery holders that do allow the battery a loose but secure mounting. I have yet to get one, but I want to try it out. I am not at the level where I think I would notice the difference, but those that are said it is a noticeable change.

I stand corrected then. Sorry.

Very interesting discussion here!
Bought a used 417x recently for next season, so started thinking similar thoughts about flex servo mounts and battery mounting.
So the explanation of YFZANDY seems the most logical to me. Evening the flex a little is just a bonus/side effect. I quickly came to the idea myself, using servo tape and maybe just the inner holder would have the same effect rather cheap to allow more flex. But with the tipps posted here, I´ll definitely think about the floating mount and the tape under the Lipo for some trials.

Matthias

The new Serpent S411 ERYX TC has a floating mount which looks awesome. It mounts on the steering rack itself. There's also a kit designed for the S411TE. Cool looking stuff.
See it here.

The Lipo is 1/3 the weight of the touring car chassis. We are sure it does have an impact on performance if you allow it to float.
Try this. Racers are have found it works and it is free.

ROCHE has really done a great job for my TCXX !
Floting servo holder very lightweight, strong and with integrated stopper battery.
