Default My test results: Intellect IB 3600 versus GP 3300 Cells

Hey All,

In an attempt to "do something useful" I conducted an experiment comparing the new IB 3600 cells to GP 3300 cells. It is my hope that it'll help people who are trying to make battery-buying decisions right about now.

I humbly submit my findings for the approval of the community. Please feel free to sumbit any comments or corrections.

Best $110 ever spent. Thank you Bob.

The ultimate comparison would be IB3600 versus GP3700 though. Performance-wise, because the GP3700 is way expensive.

I love the fact that the price of the IB cell is lower. I'm beginning to like this Battery Wars thing :-)

Arrow weight

intellect cells are supposed to be 1 gram heavier per cell. considering the capacity difference thats not much, infact very little

Bob, whenever you feel like spending another $110 to test some other cells...go right ahead!

I would say that using the Indy 16x5 for discharge is a bad idea because of the 4 sec rest/minute. It makes the readings utterly incomparable.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Hebiki: Here's the data you want.

IB 3600
Weight of built pack (with solder and bars): 391 g
Diameter: 22.4 mm
Length 42.69 mm

GP 3300
Weight of built pack (with solder and bars): 390 g
Diameter: 22.6 mm
Length: 42.55 mm

Lee82gx: Since I used the same test apparatus on both batteries, I'd say that makes the results exactly comparable. The charger's pattern was non-random. So long as I am satisfied that it behaved the same way with both batteries, then I judge the results to be comparable.

You may be right... but a more-fair comparision might end up being the IB 3800 cells versus the GP 3700... If indeed that's where the cell manufacturers chill for a while. Both cells, as I understand it, are bigger and heavier than the 3300 and 3600.

Bob, good comparison, but I'm wondering, why is almost every bit of text hyperlinked to ProMatch racing? Seems kinda odd that you would do that considering you were using Kinetix cells... or maybe you just wanna piss Ron off..LOL

Wow, that was way unintentional.

Turns out I missed a closing ">" on the hyperlink for promatch... which went unnoticed because I was using Firefox to view the page.

I fired up Internet Explorer and all the text was blue! Thanks BigDog for pointing it out.
