I have been looking for that stiffer baseplate for a while now.....I find the pro spec chassis to be very flimsy with all of the reliefs/cutouts that it has. Good to see that they have re-released it. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on one asap.

Edit: looks like Spec-R, RSD, and TQRC don't have any. Doh!

Any suggestions on longer body posts that would fit these cars? I'm trying to run a Tamiya Evo VII WRC body that is a little too tall in the rear for the stock posts.

Hi All,

A while ago I bought a bunch of new and second hand spares. In amongst them I have found a few 52mm drive shafts. This may be a stupid question, but why, when and how would I use them?

from memory the 52mm shafts should be used in the front with a diff setup. I may be wrong but I am sure someone will be along shortly to correct me.

I just built two cars and got to run them this weekend. Friday night in a parking lot race and they still needed help. Worked on them through the night and got them okay, the shims under the suspension blocks are a must in my opinion. I would put them in as you build the car not only does it eliminate some of the ride hide adjustment issue the car handles much better too.
Sunday I took them down to TQ to get ready for the IIC because I cant be there for the practice days. Other than droop and some suspension adjustments the cars took little work to get good. We'll see how it goes in amateur and spec gt this weekend.
Overall, Im impressed with the quality of the car and performance, especially at the price. I have the aluminum shock bodies on one and it is a big improvement in shock assembly but the plastic bodies work well too. The other thing I did and , would recommend is using aluminum shims where the kit calls for plastic ones, more reliable and wont get sloppy in a crash.

What size roll center shims did you use under the lower suspension holders?

I placed an order for the new chassis plate and top deck yesterday. Hopefully I'll have them in time to try them out at Wednesday night practice next week. I'll move the stock pro spec chassis and top deck over to my S1 VTA car, which will make the S1 mostly R1 pro spec (stit still has plastic bulkheads and frp shock towers).

I forgot to mention. ...I finally got around to installing the tamiya 417 steering blocks in my S1 VTA car. The fit well, with the only exception being that the bearings are 0.5mm closer together. I used a pair of 0.3mm shim washers to take up the difference.
