There you have it r/c racers. You will not make a living at this hobby/sport unless you are gifted such as the top 1/2 percent are or you manufacture all the stuff that everyone else but the racers(the most frugal and will go out of their way to save a penny)use.
Almost any hobbystore owner will tell you that the backyard bashers or the "I have to beat my buddy down the streeters" buy and use more stuff than any racer ever will.
If you really want your hobby to support your family you will need to imagine a product that everyone needs and has to have without a doubt a totally priceless to have commodity. Toilet paper comes to mind. If it didnt exist would people still shake hands?

I think those numbers are VERY VERY generous...
My guess -- Factory guys - Parts, some expenses, winner bonuses (200-500 dollars)
Factory guys that also work at the factory - $30-40K plus the above.
Top 10 in the world - Maybe $60-80K???
