The wheels are cool, but this whole kickstarter thing seems shady, if im kickstarting a product and all I get is the wheels I feel ripped off. If you kick start something wheres the benefit. The wheels ? So much for venture capitalism. Give me stock options or something
so if he got 7000 people to pay $1 dollar the wheels would have been made and you could have bought them whenever you wanted down the road.
Its one of the ways people get money instead of maxing out credit cards to have something made that they think is a good idea.
It good for RC so you dont have to wait for a company to finally make that body you have always wanted or some other part.

The whole Kick starter way is its the start to what you want to see made.

You can also think of this as a way to have things made in places other than China. If the project was being made in America for example more people might send more money.

Normally the more you donate the better items you get, each person sets up the system for pledges. So if you give $1 dollar you are just helping,if you give more you got some decals along with the wheels, like that. I dont remember the details of these wheels but you get the idea, the more you give the more you get, plus the chance to be able to buy the wheels later on whenever you want. That would be the actually production point. You can see that it was going to take $7000.00 just to be able to make $7.00 wheels. Most people dont want to gamble $7000.00 to make $7.00 wheels. And still not sell any $7.00 wheels.
You can also think of this as a way to have things made in places other than China. If the project was being made in America for example more people might send more money.

I understand how it works, just don/t think there is enough consumer incentive to participate. Wonder what margin kickstarter takes. BTW funny name poopywhiteguy

Kickstarter is not about investing, and it's not about business ventures. It's about supporting creative projects you think are cool, that otherwise would probably not see the light of day.
People have created some amazing things through kickstarter, that otherwise would have had a tough time succeeding.
Project creators try to offer great rewards to their backers. In the case of pre-ordering a product, you generally will get the product for less than what it would later cost in retail.

Here's a company who used Kickstarter to fund miniature design/scultping/production for their game system. They exceeded their goal and as you can see, are doing pretty good.
