Here is my Novak 25.5 VTA motor history.

When USVTA went to the 25.5 motor, I didn't own a 25.5 motor. I did own a Novak Ballistic 17.5 motor. I ordered a 25.5 stator directly from Novak and converted my 17.5 to a 25.5. I have been running this motor in the VTA class in a TC3 or TC4 since the rules changed.

With this same motor I have been able to qualify in the top 10 at many major VTA races (USVTA Nats, Hurricane Series, USVTA Southern Nats) and even managed a few top 3 finishes. This motor was even connected to a speed control that melted down (due to user error) and it suffered no ill effects.

I don't recall exactly when USVTA changed to 25.5, but I believe that this is at least 3 years now. So basically I've spent about $33 each year for my motor in VTA. I realize that not everyone has had good luck or experience with Novak motors. However, every time I take the track in VTA I know that my motor isn't keeping me from having a chance to win (and it is one less variable that I need to worry about).

I can understand that many people are brand loyal and would prefer to purchase from their favorite manufacturer. However, how can you really argue about the value of the Novak 25.5 motor if you are willing to invest in running the VTA class for multiple seasons (and why wouldn't you)?

stop trying to pick a fight with a rule that isn't broken - as much as I personally don't like novak stuff, i do respect the rules and use their speedos in my car now (and not just my USVTA car) ...

Yes we are offering a 25.5 motor in the gen2 product line. No we do not intend to ask the USVTA to allow it. They have made their opinion very clear on the subject. Yes it is built to the same specifications as the orange motor and we do expect other VTA races to allow it. It is not a challenge to the USVTA, it is simply a manufacturer offering a product that people can choose outside the USVTA.

I will say that the nationals results shows that people simply view things differently. To me this shows that it would make no difference if more products were allowed. A fully USVTA legal car is able to win at the highest level so it is not an issue of equal performance or fairness. It is an issue of simplicity and perception, which is perhaps reason enough.

We think the USVTA is doing great things for onroad RC racing. We would like to be part of it, but we are happy to just see it be successful.

Will you be offering an affordable ESC that falls into the USVTA guidelines for approval?

thank you, and look forward to hearing from you soon...

also...guys dont tell ppl to go run something else cause of a question about the rules...I personally dont want then to...I would rather for them to run USVTA...the questions are for discussion...and I would like to help ppl understand and convert to the USVTA rules rather than leave and run TC or offroad

here is another varible...if I run a Reedy Sonic 25.5, and win...what do you think other racers are going to do?...nevermind that Im running one of the original 25.5 stators in my Novak and win...but changing motor will get ppl spending money...now guess what happens when Tekin,SP, Trinity all release 25.5's...?...how many 25.5's are you going have in your pitbag?....

I know guys that race TC 17.5 that has every motor(fast) that has been released over the last couple of years...thats about 6 different motors, and more if you smoke one...

Like Rob stated...motor rule wont change...we dont mind trying new esc's...and Tekin and others are welcome to put in on this anytime...we welcome it....Hobbywing stepped up and it got added....

I would love to run all AE/Reedy/LRP, but Im loyal to the USVTA and the sport of growth in RC racing 1st...and thats the ticket...

No apologies needed. Its just discussion

No harm no foul.

As the USVTA grows, more questions will come as well as same older one's. It's our job as USVTA racers to help by answering them and guide new and returning racers.

I agree with the last several posts as well. A tiny Tekin ESC that is roar approved, non ramping, VTA legal, etc. would be excellent! The RS size would be perfect, and $99 or under for the street price would be perfect.

After racing almost every form of rc cars for the last 30 plus years i must say that USVTA has done wonders for attracting new people to the hobby and at the same time helping racing in general. I (Kris Poloncak) have been lucky to be part of this exciting class since it was started and whether being raced on carpet, blacktop or even indoor prepared concrete, I have had some of the closest and most exciting races in my 30 plus years of racing! I have seen the people in charge of USVTA take alot of heat from the racers over the years and I for one am glad that they stuck to their original plan...keep things simple and offer a class that is affordable for someone who is just getting started. Thanks again to all of those involved that make TA racing what it is today...great competitive realistic racing that puts a smile on almost everyones faces. Good racing to all...

Default QUESTION

The rules state

"For the HPI Mustangs which are not provided with a spoiler:
A lexan spoiler of 16mm total height from trunk deck, and overall chord of 20mm is allowable."

Does this allow the use of the spoiler/wing that comes with the HPI104926?

If not does somebody have a picture of what they are talking about?
