Looking for opinions on chassis:

I have a couple of options: AE TC6.1, XRay T3 2012, or XRay T4 2014.

Have heard of "durability" issues (i.e., parts breakage issues) with TC6.1, but, "parts are cheap" for this car.

XRays are good and durable, but, parts are more expensive and the chassis "may be overkill for VTA" from what I was told.

I would go with the best chassis you can afford. I had an AE TC6.1 and it was ok but I think the Xray T4 14 would be best. You can add upgrades too.

Try the VBC D08 or one of their older cars. I run the 08 in USGT and it is doing very well against the awesomatix and x-ray.....http://vbcracingusa.com/store/index....te=common/homeor here http://beamcat.com

Thanks all for the advice.

(Probably) Against my better judgment, I went with the TC6.1 (for cost). Who knows...I might regret it later...gotta be better than the Spec-R car I've been running.

On another note:

USVTA has been added to the 2016 Halloween Classic at the last minute. Registration opens tomorrow (Monday night, August 8, 2016) at 7:00pm EST on RCSignup:

http://events.rcsignup.com/events/di...nt.cfm?ID=5148

We need a *committed* eighteen cars to run the class in order to *not* have it dropped at the event. If not enough cars show up *at the race*, the class *will* get dropped.

With the new motor/battery rules, hopefully we can get guys to run.

Last year, this race "sold out" in under 90 minutes. Be there or be square.

with the new rules for VTA and GT...I was curious how my old school rules would fair against lighter cars with more mah lipos....so I ran full 1550 wt and 5000 lipo with the Novak 25.5 against a equal driver with the new rules in place....6000 lipo and 1450 wt with Trinity 24k motor....and I have to say my car held its own very well...didnt win...but was very close...

1 David Owens 3 39/8:02.086 11.946 12.361 12.494 12.647 12.784
2 Myron Kinnard 1 39/8:04.296 11.951 12.403 12.013 12.079 12.121

I also did the same in GT, and pulled TQ and the win....

1 Myron Kinnard [TQ] 1 32/6:10.585 11.120 11.588 11.192 11.240 11.275
2 John Barron 2 4 31/6:10.847 11.217 11.963 11.339 11.391 11.437

Im sure the weight will come into play as well as newer motors and bigger lipos....but for now Im happy keeping it old school lol...

You just compared apples to oranges. You need to change YOUR car to the new rules package and see if there is a difference. That would be a true test of the difference between the two sets of rules.

These rules do not yet reflect the change allowing any ROAR-approved 25.5.

Right now post #9588 is the only reference:

Thank you Howard

Ok i went to the rule pdf file and the motor rule still reads the same. It says nothing about Roar legal 25.5 it says Novak

25.5 brushless with 2C LiPo: Novak SS25.5 Pro brushless motor (pn:3425V) or Ballistic 25.5 (pn:3625V-stator only pn:S6625) Club (pn:3331) or Boss (pn:3626V) ONLY combined with any hard-cased 2C 7.4v LiPo pack up to and including 6000 mAh capacity. Novak motors are the ONLY motor allowed at this time

With the new points season, we need to do some clean up on the rules, including the motors and F1 as well. This will happen soon, sorry we are common layabouts
