To me, the TC4 is the icon of VTA. Not that any other chassis don't work well too. I've got TC3's that run with anyone in the right hands (not mine).

I'm practical though... I like running something that I might have good chance of finding local parts for. What brands/parts does your track stock? The answer to that question would sway my decision on what to run as well.

Thanks
Finding parts for a T1 may be a problem. Always buy a car that you can find parts for.

I've been running my VTA setup for the first time last week and i was very impressed with the grip the tires provide.
Been running my Spec-R S2 with a 21.5T V3 SP motor, FDR was 4.1 and the car was surprisingly very fast.
Will be testing some more to see if i can still improve my laptimes.
Overall very pleased with my VTA car.

Nice looking car. 21.5? USVTA VTA cars are 25.5, so you must be running an outlaw class or your club/track has its own rules. BTW where do you get that tire sauce?

@Ralph289

Spider grip works great.
We just changed our track layout (carpet) and grip is low, but the HPI D-compound tires had lots of grip and traction when pulling out of the corners.
I was amazed with the acceleration out of the corners, especially with an FDR of 4.1.
Grip is still getting better every week we have a night to practice, lap times will only improve.

@John Wallace2

I live in Belgium (Europe) we don't have VTA classes over here, i guess i must be one of the few that is running this in europe (if not the only one)
Thought that VTA was running 21.5T motors, isn't there a sportsman and another class of VTA?
25.5T motors are not that easy to find here in Europe, ordering from the US will cost a lot of extra taxes.
I buy spider grip at tonisport, in Germany.

OOPS I didn't notice the location in your previous note. VTA used to be 21.5 turn motors (still have a few of those) but when USVTA took over the sanctioning it went to 25.5 motors and blinky ESCs..

If you referring to USVTA as always being the sanctioning body for VTA starting back in ~2007, I stand corrected. That's about the time (2007/2008) when I started back racing after some medical issues and I loved the look of my 68 Camaro going around the track. Come to think of it I do recall now seeing the USVTA LOGO on the VTA rules sheet at The Track and other East coast tracks where I raced. Still running 68 Camaros but now they have a 25.5T motor. blinky ESCs and a driver figure.

yep....4 cell 27t, 21.5 lipos, goofy boosted esc's 17.5 and 4 cell LOL...and ect....25.5 Novaks and specific esc list is imo the best combo since the beginning...still not a fan of the ROAR esc list....but I support the USVTA, and everything else I can argue with Rob in my spare time lol

At one of the big races I attended, the VTA winner's time (21.5 with one of the first boosted ESCs) would have placed him 4th in the 17.5 A main. The days of the non boosted ESC were numbered. Fortunately, IMO the blinky software has restored some sanity back into the sport. I've run the Tekin Gen1 & 2 (both the stock and modified Gen 2) and the HW Just Stock ESCs and don't see any big on track advantage with anyone of them (albeit I like the telemetry in the Tekin Gen 2). One of the fastest guys here in USGT is using a HW Just Stock ESC, a Track Star motor and an old Cyclone TC chassis (3 iterations out of date) and my buddy in Austin regularly beats me in VTA with my old HW ESC and a TC3 . So I'm comfortable with the VTA ESC rule.

In California, we have a couple tracks that run "OUTLAW" VTA using 21.5's - ANY "Roar Legal" motor brand can be used. We run on bigger tracks than a lot of the USVTA tracks and the extra power is a lot of fun. We also have tracks running "True" USVTA Rules as well, and when ever possible, I like running BOTH classes during a race day...(I have cars set up for both)
