U.S. Vintage Trans Am Nationals: April 12th, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey all of you Trans Am racers, be sure to set aside Saturday, April 12th, 2008 for the Inaugural U.S. Vintage Trans Am Nationals to be held at The Track at Harbor Hobbies in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
This event details are still being finalized, but we will be presenting a Trans Am ONLY event based on 6 rounds of heads-up heat racing (best 4 rounds count), and also will include a Concours event, Longest Haul Award, 20-car 50-lap shootout and other fun happenings during that day.
Save the date now, get a hall pass, get off of work and do whatever you need to do to make it out on the 12th of April. It's going to be a don't miss event for years to come.
Race rules will be official U.S. Vintage Trans Am rules found on the USVTA website here: http://www.usvintagetransam.com
The Track at Winthrop Harbor's website is here: http://www.harbor-hobby.net
We will be listing hotel information and any special side events, sponsors and other details as they are confirmed. Race pre-entry forms will be posted here and on the site when they are completed, so stay tuned to this thread for all of the latest info as it develops.
Hope to see you in April!

i have great VTA news. I have posted on here that VTA seems to have gotten away from the orig intent and usvta rules at my local track. The discussion has opened with the track owners and the VTA racers. One of the best VTA guys sacrificed a points race night and tested different combo's and all were tested at USVTA weight(1558grams actual). The track stays the same layout for 4 weeks so they have 3 prior weeks of data at 1450 grams.
At this time i don't know what if any changes will happen, BUT with the racers and owners discussing and testing is a HUGE plus and i hope will benefit all involved.
Track located in northern indiana. Michiana rc raceway.

I'm actually not for the change because it takes away from the orginal rules to allow the older and heavier chassis. If a club wants to race lighter cars (like PC) then let the people know that come to race at there track. Changing the weights only hurts the local guys that can't handle the extra weights when they have to add it. I know someone that won and was light weight by 100 grams .that was all the weights he had? Strange that he went thru tech 3 times before the mains.

1550 levels the playing field for older tub chassis...my TC3/4 dont have any extra weight at all...and with HPI Z28 and some sho goo...its dead on...but if I had to loose 100 g, man that would require either to buy lighter eletronics, or light chassis, screws, ect..
its easier to add weight than to take away....makes it easier for the guys with the older cars....
also any chassis is allowed cause why not...if you want to spend big money on a new chassis...knock your self out...but dont get pissy about the class when Joe Blow whoops you with a Sprint 2...just saying, any chassis will work if you can get it setup for your style of driving...

Do Kimbrough brand spur gears in 64 pitch fit in a TC6 chassis? I have a 108 tooth Kimbrough spur gear that doesn't fit in my chassis. A friend of mine just bought a used TC6 to use in VTA. I have this spur gear and a selection of 64 pitch pinions (54 to 58 tooth) that I was going to give him to get started.
Will these larger size pinions and spur physically fit in his TC6?
