I totally neglected to mention that in my original response. You're totally correct, the rears last a long time (15 full race days or better, easily) and the fronts are the ones that last 3-5 race days if your car is handling OK.

Hey melon, when you install any of the HPI Vintage wheels (these include the following HPI part nos. #3805-->#3822, #3854-->#3860, and #33472-->#33475) you will see that the wheels have a built-in offset so that the tires will match the width of the HPI Vintage bodies.

These wheel parts are described in the VTA article found in issue 106 of RC Driver magazine.

Most of the VTA racers I know are using a 190mm wide TC chassis and none of them had to add any parts to make the VTA tires match the width of their VTA body. The article in RC Driver actually talks about putting together an Associated TC4 for VTA racing, and if I'm not mistaken, the TC3 and the TC4 have the same wheel base.

Thanks for the replies. Now that we're referring to the trackwidth. Does anyone know if all the VTA bodies use the deep offset rear wheels? For example, does the HPI 70 Mustang use the 6mm offset rears?

The rules require that you use the 31mm / 6mm deep offset rears for VTA with any of the legal bodies. So you have to make them work with your setup regardless.

Yes, like beemerfan said, all of the USVTA-approved wheels (i.e. HPI part nos. #3805-->#3822, #3854-->#3860, and #33472-->#33475) mounted on a 190mm chassis will match up with any of the HPI VTA bodies (including HPI 17546 - '70 Boss Mustang). Just take a look at how these HPI Matte Chrome 8-spokes (#3808 for front and #3813 for rear) match up with the HPI 17546 body...
