I just picked up a D005 for my return to TC (It's been almost 10 years). Running 17.5 blinky where should I start with gearing?

"Go to you local track and talk to the regulars, or the "fast guys." See what kind of gearing or setup they're running and start with that. Keep in mind, brushless motors all like different gearing, from brand to brand. It also has a lot to do with the track size."
See, that wasn't so hard, Microtome

Anyone know of a online parts supplier for a 2012 Wildfire? I think my car is about to become a static display without finding new parts. "what parts do you need?" I don't know yet as I'm afraid to race it. I want to put a new body on it for starters but the body posts are too short. I can't even find body posts that fit online. It was a great car! Better quality than my TC5 and TC6.1. It really is a shame. Don't get me started about my Flash 04. VBC has great products, but they need to focus on one car longer than 12 months.

All the plastics are universal with all VBC touring cars. Diffs and most drive train parts are as well, belts are different lengths. Bulkheads and carbon fiber parts are a bit harder to find, but I wouldn't worry. For aluminum there is eBay or try and find a spare care for around $125. Same for the carbon fiber. There is also a guy in Australia, bezerk RC, that cuts custom parts for the D05 - D07. I am running his lowered shock towers with the TBB shocks and the car is awesome.
If you go to TQ RC and upgrade from the v1 parts you probably have to the v2 parts, breakage drops to almost non existent.
because of crossover parts comparability, this car will be supported for a long time.
Have fun, if you have specific questions, pm me and I'll be glad to help.

I just picked a used VBC D05 Wildfire and I am getting it ready for my club's 21.5 Sportsman class. I assume that the gear ratio for this car is 1.9 (38T diff / 20 center pulley).
I have the electronics installed, but the motor is problem. I'm using a 96T 64P spur gear and the rear most motor bolt is blocked by the spur. Anyone have a solution?

Are you using an open spur like a panaracer? Normally you can manage to fit the driver through the gaps in the spur.
If not, change spur size to something that does allow it!

Direct from xenon in Japan is the go. Fast shipping and good prices.

I use an xray 96t spur on mine. It is a bit of a pain, but I remove the top deck and the belts to set mesh. I will get both screws just barely snug move motor to get proper mesh, tighten forward screw, pull up spur and pully assembly , then tighten rear screw. Then put the drive train back together. Its really not that hard. Its 8-12 screws depending on flex. Its a lot easier than fighting weird angles and striping a motor mount screw.
