Default T.O.P. PHOTON EX

This new car will be out early 2012, http://www.redrc.net/2011/10/top-rac...-ex-prototype/ Looks like it uses the same drivetrain and suspension parts as the old photon, and many of the parts are going to be interchangable, Have not seen any where you can preorder one yet, but I guess too early, I for one cannot wait to get one, the old car was amazing, so this one should be better, and hopefully will be competetive with the 2012 cars, as it is the lastest one, so top can get more knowledge by looking at the other 2012 cars, xray 2012, serpent s411 le, tamiya 417x, so this should have all the best from all three, lol, If only, only time will tell, now if top can get a release date and stick with it.

its probably just me, but I'm pretty sure, TOP didn't wait until all the other "12s" were released before designing theirs.

There is no preorder because its still not really known when it will be released.

On another note, the old car still is amazing.... The design is still fantastic... and it is still competitive.

Looks nice! Dual bell crank setup is nice! I don't like the Tamiya style suspension bridges compared to just using washers like on the Xray! Has Top released their own gear diff yet?

I like the new suspension mounts...I'm tired of bending screws with the washer method.

Hopefully they got a handle on the 'rear toe' issue many of us have had.

I mean, it handles just fine, but putting the car on a setup station just makes me squirm a little

I know they say this car is a huge improvement in modified, but from what I have read in 17.5 it wont be as essential to have this new car (Over the old car)

Can someone who has driven the new car let us know how it drives? How is it to set up? Will current setups transfer over without many changes?

Default new car

after seeing & having a little to do with the new car,i will be keeping my 2 photons that i currently have for the mean time.in saying that i dont run mod only 21.5/17.5 & i think the photon for these classes is an exceptional car which has suited me better than any other car ive owned, but each to their own as the new car will be of good quality & new features just as the photon was when it came out

Yea I don't like the suspention holders . I've mentioned the cost involved with getting all the optional mounts . That a part of the old photon I loved. It took $15 worth if washers and could set the car up any way u wanted.

I have the 417x and find the suspension blocks to be really easy to use, I have all of them and it only cost 35 cnd, you don,t need to buy all of the blocks, most cars run -2 to -3.5 rear toe, so you will only need maybe two extra blocks, and you never know top might just put all the blocks in the package, like the s411 le

On my Tamiya they got really expensive to have all the options. I like how my current Xray is but yes I have bent screws. Screw and washers are cheap those bridges aren't!

Looks like one is $14.00 on Ebay
