Tamiya 1/12 R/C RM-01 "Racing Master"
#423
My RM01 body measures + - 165mm
and the CRC "Black Art" measures + - 175mm.
ROAR max width is 172mm wide tire to tire. (correct me if I'm wrong)
The Tamiya is 165 rear and 160 front.
I widened the rear when I put the new "race" body on and it freed up the rear too much, car settled down nicely returning to the stock width, did not try widening front and rear together however.

I measured 163mm at the front wheel wells, and 168mm at the rear wheel wells.
The BlackArt & Protoforms are 170mm front, 172mm rear +/-

Yep, but given I was a lap ahead of the F1's with no weight, the extra weight put me on the same lap at the end of 6 mins, only a second or 2 in front
The RM created a bit of interest, but I don't think it convinced anyone to buy one.
I had a test session today at my normal r/c club, low grip tarmac, rougher surface and I tested the option foams - brilliant! even better when I ditched all that lead as well. And it created a lot more interest, just need another 3 or 4 to buy one and we'll have a class going

FS: Tamiya RM-01 Blue Aluminum Screws Sets
I purchased a few blue aluminum screws for my Tamiya RM-01 and ended up with a few extras. As such, I was able to make a few more kits for interested racers/enthusists. The screws are made from 7075 aircraft grade aluminum and are anodized blue (medium to dark blue). All are 3mm thread in round head or flat with 1.5mm or 2.0mm allen key. Much lighter than steel or even titanium. The following sizes are included with the kit:
Size Head qty
3x6mm Round 4
3x8mm Round 9
3x10mm Round 9
3x6mm Flat 5
3x8mm Flat 19
3x12mm Flat 2
2x6 Round 6
2x5 Cap 2
4x10mm Flat 2
4x18mm Flat 2
60pcs total
The screws are 100% Tamiya TCS legal for North American regional and National races per the rules posted on the Tamiya USA website.
$25 shipped within the USA. Canada, Europe, etc, will add $3 for extra shipping and handling.
PM or email if interested.

Yesterday i ordered the hop-up roll damper and pitch damper.
Next time i will also try the high grip tires, and a 1/18th lipo battery.

Body is a bit heavy but so damn cool lookin, overall car is also a bit heavier and it can't achieve the proper front ride height to run the "rubber band" sidewall tires like the others although this car is really, really hooked up on the Tamiya kit tires and even better on their option tires.
I'm lovin mine.

I am really torn between purchasing the RM vs another make. I really, really like the Porsche Newman body but am looking at the almost all plastic chassis with a warrantless price tag vs. the other brands with carbon fiber and alu parts. Say I purchase the rm-01 and then purchase the hop ups to get the car, "competitive" vs a CRC, TOPS, or other brand. Just trying to conduct a cost analysis. Am I to assume the toms or porsche tamiya body may fit another 1/12 brand or strictly the tamiya rm01?
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

Could it be a contender with the hop-ups coming, yes, in the blinky class, no in mod, maybe in boosted.
The body is a bit narrow to fit on an R5.
If your setup, and driving skills are above average, you will enjoy the car, and be close on pace.
If you've never driven a 12th scale, this car is simply the easiest car to start with.
This is also the ONLY 12th scale legal for TCS Racing
The RM-01 will bring more racers to 12th scale, of this I am quite certain.
