Magazines were pretty far behind back in the day.
Not like the instant info today.

This was from the Oct 89' issue.

I don't recall Joel ever racing for Delta, but my memory gets more and more fuzzy the older I get.

THe bottom picture is Joels car of course, what is interesting to me is that he is running Nikkon Trading on his car. I dont know if this shows up in any other country besides Japan.
Above his car is Ishirara`s Road Runner.

This is a break down of the cars entered,I can explain the basics if someone needs them. Masami finished 17th if anybody is interested.Masami was 14 years old and Joel was 16 years old.

You know, I knew better than that. The original Trinity decal sheets literally had Joel and Delta all over them...

As I remember, Nikko Trading was the importer & agent of TRINITY motor at that time.

Joel used the DELTA Auto Drive FET ESC in this race , and at that time, Japanese racers were still using the "relay type" ESC.

You can see the DELTA ESC here vintagedeltablogspotcom

Enjoy

If I had to guess maybe 1984 or even earlier. I have some older European magazines that I could look at but I bet someone else will be able to chime in.

To Corallyman,

Do you have a collection of Corally kits? I still got my SP12-G2, the one that David Spashett won 94 ifmar world, I recall the track was in Germany.

No, I only have a SP-12M carbon car left. I was sponsored for a period of time with Corally USA so I had a number of cars a few years ago. I sold them when I stopped running for them.

The SP12-G2 was a cool car though, I had a friend up in Canada that had either a G or a G2, can't remember exactly but it was a neat car.
