Classic 1/12th

The good thing (one of...) (and I'm speaking about 1980...31 years ago..) was that, at that time, you can have a single pack of ni-cads and you dont' have had to feel the "poor" guy of the circle...
Associated standard charger was a cheap resistive wire, which was feeding some Sanyo or General Electrics 1.2V 1200mah...
And you've to manage 8 long minutes with motors with 30 turns...
Bodies were way more similar to real cars.
In the meam time:
I'm after a Porsche 956/962 from Parma (or Bolink)...

I'd like to see an "exhibition" class at one of the bigger races... have the guys that still own these older cars go out and run. 1:1 has historical/exhibition racing events, why not the same for 12th scale RC? I guess Baka is already enjoying this sort of thing but I'd like to go to Snowbirds or another event and see the old cars with "era-correct" paint jobs running.

In 2009 at the IIC, Tony Nesinger was running in 1/12th, and still running black and gold coloured paint scheme.
2010 Joel Johnson came out to the IIC and someone let him run a car. He hadn't run one in some time, but was still pretty fast, once he learned that he didn't have to conserve power for the whole 8 minute run. I guess old habits are hard to break. Sort of takes the race strategy out of racing now.

Here's a couple of pics of my Sarik Toj b'shell. I still have the driver figure, because you HAD to have a driver figure on your chassis if you used an open cockpit b'shell, like the Toj.
Here you go:
I will give it a run at Chesterfield this Sunday to compare it to an up to date b'shell.
Cheers,
Chris.
