BMI 1/12 conversion/car

RCsilly...
The pod plates are lowered, but not as much as IRS or CRC. I run down to 1.74" and that's about it. I found anything smaller then that I would start to loose traction toward the end of the race, even in stock, and the spur gear would be too low. The motor is also lowered, it's flush with the bottom of the lower graphite plate.
Jason,
Don't forget I need a kit for a guy up here!! I told your boss about it last week!! She has his screen name :P
fatdoggy,
Glad it worked out for you. There are so many combinations with this conversion!! I ran the 3 shock set up with the old style front end today, it worked great! I can turn faster lap times with the 3 shocks, but it is harder to get set up and be consistant. It's just a matter of time till you find what suites your driving style.

Back from a long weekend and a good trip. The race didn't go to good for me. Never did get the three shock setup to work good and looking back, spent way to long trying to get it to work. The only thing that came close was 60wt. oil in the side shocks with Olive spring, .078" T-bar AND the tweak screws lowered. I do know next year I need to run more races at the Northwest tracks. They are so much different than my home track.
I do appreciate all the help though Wayne. It was a good learning experience. I have a ton of notes what doesn't work on the track .
On the good side talked with Jason and my son will have his car VERY soon. Be good to have two of them in the family to compare and test things.
take care

I'm glad you made it home ok. It was my pleasure to meet you and your son. The BMI chassis looked awesome, very good craftmanship and just look too trick, I'm very impressed with the rear pod assembly. Hopefully we'll meet up at the track again next year.

Wayne - I will be running again this sunday with the 3 shock setup. The car was soo good last sunday I won't be doing much, maybe changing to a thicker side oil. How will a different shock angle change the handling of the car?
Someone asked about weight a while ago. Mine is at 801grams without a person transponder. However I have alot of excess weight that I could easily take off. Tires weren't at race height... I think I could keep it at 800grams or less with a personal in race trim.

Fatdoggy...
The angle of the shock is just like in a touring car or off road car... The straighter the shock the less it feels like it is working... You can gain rear bite, but there is a point where the weight will transfer too quickly and the car will want to square off in the turn... Something to play with. But it sounds like you got a good set up for your driving style!!
