Default 20k diff lube

What 20k diff lube are folks using? I've been using Mugen 10k and 30k but they don't make 20k (at least that I can find).

I've been running the 10k up until this past weekend when I ran 30k. I liked it better but I think 20k will be the happy medium for me.

I've never seen 20k anywhere. As far as I know you have to mix 20 and 30, that's what I do and it works fine.

Ah. Well, thanks, Shookie! We love you!

However, I wonder how that compares to what would be Mugen 20k diff oil? Do Mugen and Kyosho diff oils have the same thickness?

They are closer in tolerances than shock oil between manufactors.
I have used Kyosho, Mugen and Ofna diff oils and they are pretty much all the same. But I have alsways trusted Kyosho for quality. Gs Racing also makes a 20K diff oil.
Here is something else I came across if you don't feel like buying anymore diff fluid and just use what you have at home..

ok, now that we've found 20K oil, does anyone know where to get 15K? At IIC the 10k felt too thin and the 20k too thick.

Ah, k. I ordered the Kyosho stuff. Went for the cheapest shipping so I doubt I'll have it before this weekend to try it out. LOL!

I checked out that mixing webpage. Interesting - I plugged in 10000 for fluid A and 30000 for fluid B and said target is 20000. It said to mix 37%/63%.

Yea that mixing thing is pretty cool..
I use a seringe from the medical supply place...The big ol one.. I just use CC's so I get really close to the % as it has 100 CC's in the seringe...
It works great since I usally only mix up what I need...

Oh if you ever order from Amain again, just to let you know any order over $100 is free ups shipping.
Also they have discount codes for over $100 also so it can save you a bunch...
But than again most of you guys aren't nitro off road so never mind...LOL

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy the 20K fluid than have to mix it?

They are all good choices and you can't go wrong with any of them.

You can't go wrong with any of the cars on your list, and none of us can make the decision for you, but I can help point you in the right direction.

First you need to decide if you want a T-bar or link car. The cefx, slapmaster, and crc t-fource are all t-bar cars. The 4.5 and crc carpet knife are link cars. There are many debates on the 12th scale thread about link vs. t-bar, so I won't repeat them here.

After you decide on that you need to decide which one will be easiest for you to get parts for and which will be easist to get setup help with at your local track. It will be a lot easier to borrow a spare or get a setup if more people run the same car as you.

All that being said, i've run the speedmerchant cars since 2000, starting with the rev.3, then my own homemade rev 3.5, then the rev. 4, and now with the 4.5, and have been very happy with their performance. I also run stock carpet and I can tell you that the car is very fast and easy to setup and tune. Also, another nice thing Bruce does is offer conversion kits to let you upgrade from the previous rev. to the current car. This lets you save some cash and avoids having to buy another diff, front end, body posts, etc. when you can steal them from the old car.

Good luck in your choosing and if you choose a 4.5 myself and the rest of the people on this thread will be more than happy to help you out.
