I had my heart set on the DM1 but it is out of stock every where so I went with this and I have to say it drives great, cornering is great, drifts look awesome! I'm really happy with the simple 1/8 scale layout configuration and it works great, I didn't expect the car to be this awesome! My buddy's were like how much was this thing? $179.99

Nice! Any pics with the body off? Thanks,Huck

Why is there so much DM1 talk in the GTP 2 thread? Just curious?

Hey Jstall,
Nice car. I'm thinking about getting one of these too. Did yours come with that PF8 body or the DP8 (McLaren)? The Tower web page shows a DP8 body and Ofna customer service told me this was a running change. Just curious which body to expect if I order one of these.

Also, do you think a larger pinion (like a 23t) can fit using the stock motor mount and spur (51t)? I'm thinking of running a 23t pinion with 2650kv motor on 4s.

Thanks.

Jstall, that white body is so plain it is drop dead sexy. Wow! Love it!

Is that white white or pearl white? the front looks to have a bit of pearl to it?

That's the body it came with from tower last week. It is weird the way they show the other picture but the description on the car is correct.

Im pretty sure you could go to 23t no problem. My 2650 just came in today, I'm going to stick with 20t on the 2650, I'm going 5s though. The car is a blast to drive! It's a rush! Out of the box I had to crank the spring pre load about a 1/4" or so, the springs are backed all the way off. Also need to ajust the droop screw to keep the front end from rising up to far under heavy acceleration. I also moved the rear hubs to the rear position for a little bit longer wheel base. Other than that I'm loving this thing! I ordered some 12v lights for it powered by a small 3s lipo turned on and off by the 3rd channel. Should be sick for driving under the street lights.

No, no pearl. I used the HDR on my iphone4 so maybe it captured some other light in the room.

Bringing this GTP 2e thread back from the dead lol! I forgot i bought some pre mounted sweep belted treaded tires and wheels, they look sick. $78 shipped though. But I guess the stock tires are more prone to failure than the belted tires at the higher speeds. That reminds me the gtp 2e foams that come with the stock tires are the hardest I've ever done. I hated them! I cut and glued the inner foam to the wheels and then cut and glue the outer foam to to inner foam, then put one part of the tire completely on and stretch and work the tire around and over the inner foam, check for any foam lumps before glue, it's real easy to roll the outer foam over because the tires are really stiff and tight to the rims. This is all the info I have right for now hope this helps you guys out. The stock tires do work really well, the belted tires are primarily going to be for speed runs. The car pulls really really hard lol and now I'm adding more power! I just cant help it! For every day thrashing 50/60mph should be good enough for me. I'm sure on 6s the 2200kv will pull 60mph with a 20t pinion since I'm hitting 51mph on 5s. 2650kv testing this weekend.

After looking again...that heigth on the 1232 was 45.0mm,so this one may work?! Sorry for that...I guess I didn't check the dimensions properly! Thanks,Huck
Put some servo spacers in. Problem solved, lots of cars/trucks come with them in the kit. In the Rc8be, sc8e kit they are included.

Yeah! I had the same problem with tire foams on my DM-1 Spec e.My DM-1 came with the "standard" tires, not the belted ones(I bought separate)that I had trouble with.
I destroyed two sets of foams and then decided to have my LHS install the tires. I think he thought it was like installing a "regular" elastic band type tire, but these have zero stretch at all. My LHS ended up with a few lumps, but better than what I could ever get!
The Sweep EXP's I ordered had quite a few wobbles in them,at least two had a wobble and were out of round,so basically I could not use.
Someone should do video on installing the Ofna "belted' tires.Huck

Can I buy these "servo spacers" somewhere,or do they only come in a kit? My new Ofna DM-1 Spec may have them in one of the bags,What do they look like,a round plastic washer type? Thanks,Huck
EDIT: I found out what they look like and I will look in my parts bag, cause my Savox 1232 is too deep and hits the servo box bottom, before tightening down. Thanks,Huck

Nice, as long as the angle doesn't become to extreme and the steering linkage doesnt bind you should be fine! The spacers I have look kinda like a figure 8.
How's the DM1 go? I really wanted one but it was out of stock everywhere. I'm really happy with the gtp 2e so far, I might pick up a DM1 in a few moths if I really get into driving this car. Bang for buck the gtp is the most on street fun I've ever had! I'm turning it up another notch this weekend!

Here is the body off shot someone was asking about. This is before I put the drift box in, it's my initial test run setup. Fairly clean and simple install.

Ya, that does look like a real race car, with the power plant to back it up! 30t pinion on 6s must be loco!
