THanks for the feed back guys, if it was just me the yes but its not. Pullys are in good shape and one dot forward is not tight, the thing is that with the ball diff its no problem its the extra weight of the geardiff.

Also think mod with the new esc and software is challenging, weakness are starting to show.

I dont even go full tilt on our track as it has a few bumps because - know it will only tack 1-2 runs to kill the rear belt.

Outdrive blades are not cheap if you need to replace after 3 or 4 runs and if you dont replace in time the first run with them broken the outdrive gets a noch and thats it now you have to replace the outdrives.

Just thought there was somthing better out there that somebody was using. .
Thanks

Will try and scan today for you.
Just as an FYI, I ran my X last night and it feels quicker around corners. MUCH quicker without having to do a lot with the car as opposed to the 417.

Hi guys,

I was wondering what is the difference between the 417x and the 417, and is there a price difference.

417X is a move towards a more aggressive 417.

More flexible chassis and top deck; three piece motor mount, and new shock towers with additional mounting holes.

rcguy48 11-30-2011 08:02 PM

Ok thanks and is there a price difference, and how much could you get one for.

Now that the 417X is coming out, I'm sure the 417 will be cheaper, not the other way around!
I think when the 417 first came out the price was about the same.
The issue is now they are no longer making the 417, you will have a hard time finding one. I'm sure somewhere in Japan or Hongkong at some hobby store they are still available. :sneaky:
Just my 2$

rcguy48 11-30-2011 08:23 PM

Ok thanks.

As I drove my car last night, one of the things I noticed with the X is that it somehow is smoother around corners and carries a lot more speed than the
417. I didn't feel it was more aggressive. It just steered better all around with
little or no hint of understeer.
And, this is with just a spring change. No major changes to the stock set-up.

No car can really be a "complete package" car but this one comes millimetrically close imho. :)

hi, are there any carbon lipo battery holders for the 417x, like on the xray, better question would be, does anyone make a carbon battery holder for the tamiya 417x, instead of using the tape, thanks

Simple answer, no.
If you do want a battery strap, you'll have to mod one from another car.. could look at the ones from the TA05 range? I know thats has a carbon strap option part.

Zaraz, I adapt the HotBodies 67841 part to my Smoken 416X chasis, and is awesome!.
Look this photo.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O...2/DSC_0035.JPG

My new 417X is coming and I don't now if I adapt the same part to it or use front body post and battery holder that cames with 51253 part attached to new lipo battery holder part 13454833 and 834 or buy another hotbodies 67841 part to the 417X.

King regards!

are you running boost or non boost if youre running boost 113 is good depending what motor brand you run and how big is youre track size ? for non boost 113 will not work you have to go alot smaller spur gear i use 88 and to gear it again what is the track size and what motor are you using ?:)

The best place to get info on the diffrent suspension blocks and what they do is here...

http://www.thard.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=30

Read the first part then just below is a suspension block list you can down load.

Hope this helps

I need alot more corner entry steering.

I have played alot with roll centres, oils (350cst to 500cst, rebound, no rebound, holes in the caps, no holes in the caps), springs (HPI blue, silver, pink and gold), wheelbase, ackermann and even some front arm sweep (1D FF - 1XB FR).

The car is good from the middle of the corner to the exit but lacks to much going in. Nothing I have tried so far has had any influence on turn in. The car is new, tyres (MM32) are new. LTC-R shell 5mm forward.

What have people found to help with the very initial turn in?

Hi,

I've got problems with my car (TRF-417)

In the Hungarian Tamiya Cup we've got slippery carpet.I use the car with 10.5T brushless motor. My problem is find the traction in the carpet.I've cut the motor mount and the upper deck for more traction but it isn't help.I use 450 oil in the dampers and MR33 B oil in the gear diff.I don't know what can i do for more traction. If someone can help me would be very well.

Thanks,

Mate

Pro10noob 12-04-2011 04:02 AM

You have to tell us more about the setup and your problem.
Do you have no traction at the rear? front? overall?
What tires are you using?
10.5 blinky or with timing?
I know , a lot of question but we need to know to help you as much as possible.

regards Roy

I haven't got overall traction
We use HPI Challange 30 tires because we use only this tire. (and i use nosram traction additive.
My motor is SpeedPassion MMM 10.5T with SpeedPassion v2.1 ESC (with timing/turbo function.
The temperature is about 24-26C°
I cut the upper deck in front and rear and i use 2-piece suspension mount.

Regards,

Mate

What about track wide front and rear?
What suspension blocks are you using?
Position of the dampers on the shock tower?
The oil you use in the geardiff what WT value is that?
The stock 900 from Tamiya is a good starting point.
I find the Nosram/LRP tire traction fluid not so good but this could differ from track to track.

regards Roy

Mate_Nemeth 12-04-2011 05:05 AM

I use 1C-1C 1XA-1E suspension blocks.
The front dampers in the 2nd hole (from the inside) and the rear is in the 3rd hole.(I've got MR33 and HPI Springs but the Tamiya was the best one)
I dont know the value of MR33 B oil but i think it's about 700-800WT
I've got MR33,CS High Grip and Nosram traction fluid but i didn't tried the other 2 fluids.

regards,

Mate
